Everyone and I mean everyone needs to own a Browning SA22 at some point in their life.
One of the prettiest and best shooting .22 you can find.
it's the original takedown and the design is over 100yrs old and designed by John Browning himself.
I have a marlin 60, a Ruger 10/22 that I tricked out.
if I could only have one, it would always be the Browning.

Remington field master model 572. It's a .22 pump that shoots shorts, long and LR. It's a ton of fun.

CZ 453 ftw. Too bad they don't make them anymore. Mine is a dream.
The henry levers are overlooked - I bought one about 5-6 years ago and love the action on it.

Do you have an AR15? You can get a .22 conversion kit for roughly $150. Otherwise, just get a 10/22.

I'm partial to my Marlin 60 and my Remington 552 Speedmaster. The 10/22 is a distant 5th or 6th in my .22 stable.

WM,
When I'm on a squirrel hunt I'm using a Ruger 10/22, Ruger 77/22 or Savage bolt action 17 Mach 2. If you're looking for a semi-auto, I'd get a 10/22. OTOH, if you're leaning toward a bolt, I'd look for the gun that's #1 on my "bucket list," a CZ 452 American. I'm hoping to get one either for Christmas or my birthday. The Ruger American bolt sounds like a good gun and is now available in a "tactical" looking version. AR15 type 22LR 's are available, but usually look to be more expensive than non-AR15 type 22's. The bolt action Savage is a solid gun, but much less refined than the CZ. The "Golden Boy's" are really nice looking guns if you're interested in a lever action. OTOH, not all Henry's are easily scoped. Keep us updated w/ your decision.

I'm more of a lever action guy so I love my Henry. I've killed a load of squirrels with it with open sights.

CZ model 512, or Savage A22.
Saw a tricked out A22 in .22LR at Walmart the other day, with laminated varmint stock and heavy fluted barrel for $368. I really wanted it, but I got other stuff going on right now.

Plus one for Henry lever action. I bought one for my dad a couple of years ago. Sweet gun if you like lever action. Otherwise 10/22 is tried and true. Also, if you like the AR look, M&P 15-22 (3/4 size of AR). Fun to shoot, but I probably wouldn't buy one again because mine is picky about ammo though.

I’m partial to lever guns so I’d say either a Henry or Browning BL-22.
For semi-autos, Ruger 10/22, Browning SA-22, Remington FieldMaster, Marlin 60 are all quality rifles as well.
If you can get your hands on one, the Browning BPR-22 is the cream of the crop. My grandpaw passed down one to me.
Never had much use for bolt action bolt 22s. Don’t shoot well enough for one lol.
