The only call I had issue with was the wr getting nailed and fumbling the ball.

To your point Giles touched the ball on the muffed point I believe while parts of his body touched the ground. He was not credited with possession.

Yes but he never gained possession. If he had the ball would have been down at the spot.

Touching the ball while knee down...play over

That wasn't his question.

They got a 10 second run off but if it was stopped when it happened a lot more time would have come off the clock and probably the next few plays don’t happen. It’s amazing how many breaks that cult got last night.

I said this live. Their WRs were 50 yards downfield. Okay, his knee down. That clock keeps rolling. For them to be aware of that, regroup, race back to the LOS, have a play for 4th and 18 ready would have been a clusterfrick and much larger than ten seconds. This missed call, go figure, gave them more time and a chance to regroup with s free timeout. Every possible shite thing under the sun was magically orchestrated to the nfh degree in that drive.

It really is unbelievable that they benefitted from that disaster of a play. There was another instance in one of the OTs I think where TAMU had a 2nd and 15. They ran a stretch and we blew it up in the backfield but the refs blew it dead for a supposed false start. After they discussed it, decided it wasn't false start and they would re-play the down. So they get bailed out of a 3rd and 18+ and get a free redo

Isn’t it interpreted as a fumble and possession must be re-established? Is there clear video evidence to support that he established possession with the knee down - enough to overturn a ruling on the field?

There is more video evidence to overturn the incomplete pass - fumble in the 1st OT.

Christmas came early multiple times in college station last night. Hang the banner. Hope everything is remembered from the baloney calls to the punches thrown. The game will be circled next year and hopefully the score will be run up.

if he touches the ground while in the process of regaining possession, he's down

Is this the actual rule or your interpretation of it? I'm curious because I've never heard of this or seen this. As a matter of fact, I've seen players lose the ball (fumble) on the way to the ground, then, while still in some sort of contact with the ball get up and then pick up the ball and run for more yardage. I am curious as to if a down player just traps the ball on the ground is it down or still live? Or if a defender comes while the ball is trapped and steals it, is it a turnover or downed by the guy with it trapped?

just like touching out of bounds, you dont have to possess it, you just have to touch it and play is over
