Wouldn't you think keeping his trap shut to not show potential bias about a possible forthcoming case would be one of them?

Independence (and therefore legitimacy) of the judiciary

Link me to where he discussed the merits of the case.

Tell y’all one thing: we’re in a pretty stellar position as a country when CHIEF JUSTICE ROBERTS is the 5th most conservative Justice on SCOTUS in a 5-4 conservative majority, hella better than when Kennedy was the swing Justice OMG that BS

Roberts is compromised.
I'm not sure what they have on him, if it only some kind of irregularity or illegality surrounding his adoptions or something bigger.
But he is compromised.

Except when he rules the way you agree with!

Roberts is worthless. He is the idiot that basically gave us Obamacare.

He isn’t compromised.
He’s a typical Bush appointee. It’s not a bug it’s a feature.
Jesus fricking Christ. The GOP ruling class did not suddenly grow balls and turn right when trump was elected. All trump’s election has done is highlight that the Republican Party is a center-right moderate party.

Bush judges and Clinton judges have mostly been impartial.
Obama nominated a shite ton of activist judges who consistently make shite rulings based on personal politics

Roberts said on the day before Thanksgiving that an “independent judiciary is something we should all be thankful for.”
He wiped his arse with the constitution to give us Obamacare so he could prove his independence....

I've said it in a number of threads.....Roberts is going to go left in this new court. Like he did with the ACA, he's going to get more political.
He doesn't want the court viewed as a Republican stronghold.

What does Roberts care? He has life tenure, he’s beholden to two things and two things only: the Constitution and the American law all that entails not what people perceive SCOTUS to be, man that notion can suck a DICK

Oh this is just god damned rich
A leftist whining about “politicizing” the court
Only a concern when one party has the presidency
Do you actually believe your own bullshite?

Roberts is morphing into RBG as life escapes her body.
It's like the old Denzel Washington movie where "a demon" hopped for person to person to spread evil.
ETA... fixed above comment for accuracy.

You’re such an angry, bitter old man. I sometimes feel bad for you.

What fricking world do you live in where you haven't realized that the left has been doing this for decades. You are one stupid frick.

Uh, that's what's going on in some courts already. Thomas just verbally long donged the ninth for this shite.

What exactly is the problem with Roberts comments here?
We shouldn’t refer to these judges based on who appointed them. We also shouldn’t view the decisions of the federal judiciary through the lens of the politician who appointed the judge to office.
Aligning all judges and their decisions with a certain presided is shortsighted, ignorant, and hyper-partisan to begin with.
It helps nothing when people say “x presidents apointee”, provides zero insight into the judicial reasoning, and is generally a misguided attempt to discredit an unfavorable decision.
