What's a story you'd like to see turned into a movie?

Something that hasn't already been done ad nauseam.
Something totally new.
For instance, I'd like to see Robert Lundlum's The Road to Gandolfo done ... spy novel but hillariously funny while suspenseful at the same time. Really colorful characters.
But it can be anything, something original.
Would love to see the A. American Going Home series turned into a series of movies. I get The Road was done and there are a plethora of cheap cheesy post apocalyptic survival flicks out there these days, but Going Home is different. It's what it might actually be like.
Needs to be something entertaining, something that Hollywood cannot screw up with politics.
What are some ideas that simply have not been done? If any?

The three body problem. And the following 2 books of the series
Like amazon is trying to do but in short series form.
If done right, it could be the greatest science fiction story ever out to screen

Almost all of the James Lee Burke novels, but please don't cast Alec Baldwin as Dave Robicheaux.

Stephen King's "The Talisman" or "Eyes of the Dragon"

Bernard Cornwell's Aegincourt.
It's a great novel with knights and archery and based off a real siege..
Fun book.. would be a gruesome movie

Isn't that the one where the female characters are initially named (or nick-named) for the shape of their breasts? Having hard time seeing that one come through, but it was an enjoyable read.

Necroscope by Brian Lumley.
It's a cold war spy thriller/horror/fantasy novel.

Halo, Halo, Halo.
Motherfricking Halo.
Like a real one. With the visuals of Avatar and the grittiness of Apocalypto.

I wanna say "Old Man's War" but it would be "Dark Tower'd" to death by Hollywood and the coolness sucked right the frick out of the story in favor of a cgi loop-fest.
Scalzi needs to hang onto his movie rights like they grow in his scrotum.

When I was in college I bartended at a place in Prairieville. A regular was an old retired cop from New Orleans. He had a bunch of stories about the Marcello crime family.
He had one story about the real reason paul dietzl left LSU which involved Marcello.
He also had one about when they built the racetrack out in prairieville one of the contractors having an “accident” with a steam roller.
Not sure if the old guy was full of shite or what, but on a slow night on a Tuesday it was a good way to pass the time.

Not a movie but a show based on the life of Jay Gatsby before he was The Great Gatsby.
Climbing the ladder in the bootlegging business.
Think Black sails mixing real and fictional pirates but gangsters

I don't really know why Lewis and Clark hasn't been done - or maybe it has but nobody knows about it.
We get these great Documentaries by Ken Burns on Lewis and Clark but nobody can make a compelling movie about one of the greatest adventures ever told?
I don't get it.
Instead Hollywood gives us Almost Heroes...and tries to make us laugh at the most important exploration for this nation and one of the greatest human acheivements.
If somebody took this story seriously like Ken Burns...it could be an amazing movie.
