Why don't we just use our social security number. If you have one you get to vote. If you don't have one, you don't get to vote.
Those bad hombres got SS cards too

They already have much of this thanks to our friendly tech giants Google, Apple, Facebook, and Amazon
This. And there are those "convenient" ways of unlocking newer smartphones such as fingerprints and facial recognition. The government is more than capable of accessing that biometric data off of those devices.

I hope the OP was tongue in cheek.
If not, then he really doesn't think things through very well.

Life in prison or the noose work even better.

That's the beauty of soft despotism. It has the commoners sign off on Terms and Conditions to every app/website/etc.

Biometric id. Solves voting and illegals
The Dem Party (Global Democratic Authoritarian Socialist Movement) don't want voting to be "solved", CD. They just want warm bodies who support the above Movement; and that Border must stay open so that the tens of millions in South America can walk over it. It's Saul Alinsky 101; overwhelm the System and collapse it.
I heard Ed Rollins say that if Trump didn't get the Wall Funding in this Lame Duck Congress...there will be no Wall. Ryan knows this, and don't want a Wall. He's got nothing to lose.
Bottom line. The Dems are all in to "fundamentally change this Nation". They've abandoned Constitutional Rule of Law/Equal Justice...as the Constitution is what has long limited Collectivist power (I.e., Marxist/Egalitarian SJW Ideology). This Dilemma can and will NOT be settled by traditional Constitutional Process. Most of Trump Nation are loathe to admit this, as they know what it means.
There are only two options: Either let the Borders remain open with full Rights to Immigrants and the "fundamental change" proceed....or abandon Democratic (Votes) Rule and go Military Authoritarian/Dictatorial.

Most of the cheating is clearly within the various systems not with individual criminals trying to cast votes at the polls.
Voter ID's are necessary but the real corruption is with elected officials and employees managing the elections

Well, gee. Let’s make it easier and just tattoo your ID on your arm. You would never have to worry about keeping up with it. Heck, the effectiveness has already been proven not that long ago. Even came with lifetime supply of free housing, food, guaranteed job, and clothes.
For the record, I am OK with a national ID. Just don’t be implanting anything in me. (That’s Toddy’s thing.)

Goes to show how much these "conservatives" really care about efficiency.
This is a joke. Bio-metric ID for most transactions of daily life?? The way it is you can't get businesses to comply with mandatory verification of SS numbers before someone is hired.

Curious - does the Gvt collect biometric or DNA data on illegal aliens that are deported or detained?

Or maybe we don’t want to permanently give away our liberty and right to privacy for your view of efficiency

Like I said, I'm on your side but what is the govt going to do with your stuff that they couldn't do now?
A lot. The more sources for your personal information they have, the more those can be exploited. The government could then track your locations, your simple money transactions, they would have your fingerprints, dna, etc.
It seems odd that just a few months ago some people would be outraged when someone would suggest a simple government photo ID for voting. Why is that?

I think the issue is the extent of the potential, and additional, tracking methods.
