I just had my first son, and this punches me right in the guts. This is terrible.

It is scary. My fear is magnified wondering what kind of place my kid will live in when I'm gone as well.

Because of the thin blue line bull shite? If 10 cops watch another cop use excessive force and keep their mouth shut about it we have 11 bad cops, not 1. The majority of cops are good guys who want to make the world a better place but that doesnt mean we shouldn't worry about the bad ones. Good Cops should try to show what bad cops are doing. It shouldn't be up to watchdog groups and people with dashcams to expose police brutality.
I'm not a cop and dont want to be, that shite is tough. If you're a good cop, thank you.

It is my understanding that along with knowing the “color of the day” that undercover cops will be wearing they should also know their beat. Or be with a partner that knows the beat. He should know that bar, know who the bouncers are, know what they wear, etc. He fricked up and should suffer the consequences of not being good at his job.
You watch too much T.V.

Terrible story. Some cops are WAY too trigger happy.
It goes without saying, this cop should never carry a gun again.

I only know of 2 exceptions and both ended up as Green Berets. Both came from a family where dad was in the military and also educated.
the rest were shitbags. Cops and military. Not saying I agree with the initial poster, because I'm just one person with some examples. But I went to a small town high school, and lots of folks ended up in the military. Most of those people were dull as a butter knife.
The military folks who I know are all out (outside of the Lieutenant Colonel), and have actually made great lives for themselves. It's just that when they entered the military they didn't have many other options.
The police officer told me that he became a police officer because he couldn't do anything else with his degree. I don't think he enjoys being a police officer

There is no argument for the cop here. Should lose his badge. I don’t think it means they are racist as many will auto claim, but clearly freaked out and lost their cool. Better training would go a long way

Cell tech as a retired cop I agree with you on a lot f your points. It is a tough job and like any job it has good and bad apples.
We have a lot of great departments alll over the country, but we also have a crap ton of terrible ones. If you have a town run by crooked or inept politicians you can bet that the police department is going to be the same.

How about the assumption the cop made? Black man with a gun - must be the perp.
I know we don’t have all the facts yet. But what more do you need? Dude was subduing a criminal. He was wearing a security uniform or clothes that identified him as such.
Did he point the gun at the officer? If not, why in the F did he shoot him?

Have mentioned this before, but have had a cop tell me he could have shot me for getting out of my car in the (ie;my)driveway.
Way too quick to go for the gun anymore. And this is small town WI with virtually no real crime. Not the South Side.

The guy literally did his job, and put his life in danger against an armed assailant, only to get shot. There better be some answers really fricking quick on how this went down.
You serious? A dumbass cop rolled up to a call and saw a black man holding a gun. THAT'S how it went down. #ThisIsAmerica

How about “man with a gun - must be the perp.” Do you know details that the rest of us don’t?
Weren’t they responding to a shooting?

It is pretty stupid assumption that cops are less educated or somehow didn't have other choices.
