Agreed! There have been several offensive coaches/head coaches that have "gimmicked" their way into beating Alabama. They had "big man" deficiencies compared to Bama, but figured out ways to work around those, and put points on the board. We've always been too damn stubborn to try it because "We're LSU" "We go toe to toe w dem baws"

There's no working around an atrocious OL
That’s true but people are acting like we are playing an offensive line full of bad walk-ons and one star recruits.
And that is bullshite.
Teams with far less raw talent on the O line field much more productive offenses.
At some point the coaches have to actually coach these guys up and come up with a scheme that plays to their strengths and minimizes their weaknesses.
And it is painfully clear that our coaches can’t do that.
While we may not have championship level talent in the O line, there is more than enough to be better than the bottom 10-15 offenses in the country.

I am not arguing just to argue, but we have execution issues that probably trump scheme....and that is coaching.
It is a running joke, but look at the screens. They are laughably bad, there is ZERO way they are being run correctly, something is waaayyyyy off, yet it is not corrected. This has nothing to do with personnel.
I say that to say, we dont need another voice, we need someone to insure the plays are run correctly and a vision on how to set them up. This person needs autonomy.
I think this is the point we're all trying to make.
Whether its scheme or execution, both are a coaching issue not a player issue. The talent is there. Its the coaches job to teach them HOW to execute and its the coaches job to develop a scheme that highlights the players strengths while minimizing their weaknesses and putting them in a position to move the ball and score points EVEN when the other team has the talent advantage.
For a football program to have a 4 year recruiting class average ranking of #7-#9(top 6%) and be 104 of 129(bottom 20%) FBS teams in total offense, is a fricking travesty. But to do it for 10 years in a row?!
Thats unparalleled.

Even local radio. Which shocked me. Change is coming.

What was the score of ATM vs Arkansas?

canada had to work around weaknesses everywhere but RB last year

scheme makes the OL bad
OL makes the scheme bad
OL makes the scheme bad

So you are suggesting that CSE is not a good coordinator? Hmmmm....I'll give that some thought.
Maybe Ensminger was considered to be a good OC 10-15 years ago, but he's not anymore. His schemes are predictable and pedestrian, and he hasn't shown the ability to make adjustments when necessary.

I thought there would be examples in this thread of what OP is talking about

Do you really want to have a conversation about the offensive productivity of Aggie versus LSU.
I highly doubt you do.
They have played a very similar schedule. They are ranked 21st in total offense. We are 103rd.
They average a 100 more yards per game
All this with a mediocre QB and an offensive line that cant protect. Their OL has been getting Mond killed. They have been sacked 32 goddamn times this year
Yes, lets debate the Aggie offense versus the LSU offense.

see Texas AM, see Clemson, see Texas. All with less than great QBs. All with OL deficits all producing yards
Posted on 11/12/18 at 10:43 am to tigerfoot
If that were the case, worse teams would beat Bama all the time. They are undefeated, so why can't any other team scheme to beat them if that is so easy?

Brumfield, clapp, Ingram, weathersby, Charles & Malone made 64 of 65 potential starts along the OL.
LSU would kill for that this year. To have just 6 guys start 98% of the games.
The top 6 lineman on this years team in terms of starts are at 70% of the teams starts.

Explain their OL deficits to me. I’m interested to hear.

Not enough talent to block Southeastern and La.Tech. Think back to any game and our OL was blown up. Go look at the recruiting rankings of these guys --not all of them suck. Charles has regressed a ton this year. Brumfield is a 5th year Sr.- #1 guard in country by ESPN...Check out Deculus' credentials....
Other than Cushenberry no other OL is producing anywhere near the talent level. Is that coaching? Is it heaven forbid the great Tommy MOffit? The one thing it isn't is lack of talent. LSU has plenty of raw talent on the OL. Is it elite level? Maybe not. But we should be able to have a productive offense with these guys on the line

Aggie was explained above.
Texas has allowed almost the same tackles for loss as we have. Within 10 yards.
They can not run the ball, they average 3.8 yards per rush, we are better than that by a .2 of a yard.
They have much better offensive production.

So you don’t have specifics on their OL

A&M is a good comparison...Texas - not so much. Their opposition is shite defensively. Apple's and oranges.
