Red Dead Redemption 2 SPOILER thread

The ending to the main story hits you right in the nuts. Finished it. All I can say is wow. It’s going to stick with you. Especially this part:
Arthur’s last ride is, hands down, the greatest moment in video game history.
That ride and music alone made this the greatest gaming experience I’ve had in a LONG time.
That’s the Way It Is
After playing the story where does this game rank all time with you?
Feel free to put complete spoiler guides here as well

frick yes.
For the record I was damn close to calling the ending back on the first page of the other thread in the days of old. When a 24 second leaked footage made my day![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/IconLOL.gif)
But man, this game hit me in the frickin feels. Losing Arthur to Micah in such a brutal way like that had me so enraged. I felt robbed like I'd never felt before. shite even the horse getting shot up like that and Arthur saying goodbye in that blaze of bullets choked me up some.
Did you save John or go back for the money?

Playing as Arthur > playing as John
I still haven’t finished the epilogues after finishing chapter 6

Arthur > John as far as a character goes
frick Micah, knew that dude was a snitch
And while that song was good the one they played when John was climbing up the mountain to kill Micah was great too.

Getting western AIDS sucked. Hated that part of the story. Also Guarma was fricking gay, could have done without that whole sequence.
I wish they would have given you more choice as to how you finish Arthur’s story.

I watch the different endings with Arthur, mine was a little different with Micah, I got shot in the head by
Micah, the one i watched Arthur crawl off and die looking at
the sunset. How's did y'alls end?

Just hit Epilogue Part 1.
Arthur dying was not a surprise at all, even before ever playing the game I think most people would have predicted him dying, just because of the first game's ending.
Getting to play all the post game content as John was a huge surprise I never saw coming and def. a welcome one.
Arthur was ok but he pales in comparison to John. John has was more personality and is more likeable.
Are there multiple endings? In the last mission I chose to follow John rather than go back and get the money, does that change anything?

I just finished the main story. Wow. Rockstar made an incredible series here. I figured Author would die considering his illness. I didn't see Micah blowing his head off though. That was a surprise that left my jaw dropped.
I wish they would have kept the tuberculous to a minimum. I feel like I played half the game sick. Maybe just get it closer towards the end.
To see John grow from being a little runt to the bad arse he is in rdr is awesome. To tie in fishing with Jack and Author to the ending in RDR is storytelling at it's finest. R* really knocked this game out of the park.

Just finished the entire epilogue in one day
I didn’t think it would be so damn long, but I loved the hell out of it.
I definitely want to replay it immediately and take it a little slower, especially in the early parts of the game when the gang is still all relatively happy. They really nailed the character interactions in this game.

Well that ending just made me real sad... funny how at the beginning of the game I was bitching about not playing as John... now that I am playing as john I wanna play as Arthur. What a way to go out. Wish it would’ve had a happier ending though. This is now tied with Uncharted 4 for the best game I have ever played.

Its bad enough that I lost Arthur but I also lost my beautiful gray Arabian. The game exceeded my expectations and I’m into a second playthrough, but this Arthur will be of high honor. I can’t let Micah do Arthur like that again.

I finally finished the entire thing. At first I found it shocking that less than 20% of people on PS4 have finished the whole thing, but then I realized that I'm part of the diehard core that played the shite out of this game and it still took me 6 weeks. I fear that few people are actually going to get to the parts of this story that make it great.
Holy shite. I don't think I've been punched in the gut by a game as hard as this one when Arthur fails to stop Dutch and Micah and dies staring at the sun. Yeah, I played high honor and chose to save John.
Also, that last trip up the mountain to confront Micah is just fricking awesome. The music and guys just coming out to the slaughter as you murder everything in your path to get to Micah was just fun. Of course, I waded through that snow holding two six-shooters. It just seemed proper. Then, I got the single greatest sense of satisfaction I've ever gotten from a game as I dropped into Deadeye and unloaded both revolvers into Micah's face. The bullet hole through his face as he turned and fell to the snow warmed my heart. frick Micah. I'm going back up there to put more bullets into his corpse.
This game, in my mind, is the greatest video game ever made by a large margin. There's just so much there and the story is almost poetic how Arthur (in my game) earned his redemption but his actions to save John and his family and John's actions to protect Jack from the things he did in the past are ultimately futile. The events of RDR2 echo throughout the events of RDR, the Pinkertons and the Army find and kill John, then Jack waits until his mother is dead and buried to track down and murder Ross. Everything Arthur and John sacrificed for Jack is undone. I fear it's going to be a very long time before I come across a game or a franchise that has the potential to match Red Dead.
Rockstar has created a masterpiece. However, it's not perfect. It could have been 10-12 hours shorter. It seems like they could have cut out everything that happened near Rhodes with the Hatfields and McCoys and the story wouldn't have suffered.
Finally, this is all I could think of when John got Abigail in the boat to propose. I can't be the only one.
ETA: I just went back and watched the end of RDR. I'm thinking it takes place almost immediately after the end of RDR2, maybe a year or two at the outside. It takes place in 1911, RDR2 starts in 1899, and Jack looks to be about 11 or 12 at the end of RDR2 and he'd be somewhere around 14 or 15 or so during RDR, which is about the age he looks to be in the last cutscene in RDR where he talks to John before the Army kills him.
For some reason, I was imagining a much larger gap between the two stories.

Okay so I gave online a try for the first time and I got fricking wrecked. Like that shite was fricking dumb. I got killed by a posse while trying to deliver some cash and it just kept spawning me in the vicinity for me to get killed again and again. Another time I was just riding and I happen to ride into the path of someone else's mission that was going on and I guess they assumed I was trying to steal their reward or whatever and got killed while trying to mind my own business. Like seriously?
Never played GTA online so I'm new to open world online gaming, but I guess playing solo makes things infinitely harder...

I'm late to the party but begrudgingly watched my man Arthur die last night. Knew it was coming but damn... Rockstar punched me in the gut and now i'm pissed at them for killing off a great character.
How could Dutch stand there and watch Arthur take his last breath with no consoling, after all Arthur did for him. Dude was a maniac... or turned into one.
Played as John for about 30 minutes and i'm stuck on the ranch for now. I'm ready to start shooting again and exploring and seeing where the storyline takes me. Still miss ol Arthur tho.
