I've asked this question for 15-20 years, nothing changes and we're still dealing with the same old BS election after election. We have plenty of national laws and standards but voting is still left to a buncha political hacks at the state and local level. Broward Co FL in 2000 should have been the end of Dim voter fraud.

If Congress was doing it's job to preserve the integrity of our electoral process standardized election laws would have been law 20 years ago but for some reason there's a shite load of people who don't want things to change and for the life of me I can't figure it out, does anyone know why.

Welll the intent was for the states to handle these matters as they see fit.

Only it happens that some states have interpreted “as they see fit” to mean “cheat like a mother fricker.”

Because the Constitution says elections are left to the States?

It's almost as if improved election processes would reduce fraud.

Can't have that, it would't be fair to Dems.

Because there actually is no such thing as federal elections in the US. They are ran by the states, not the feds. Really the only move Congress has is when it comes to Presidential elections, Congress could pass a law allowing them to refuse to certify the results of any state election that didn't mean certain standards.

Anything else would require a Constitutional Amendment. This is why Congress couldn't , for example, simply pass a law allowing blacks to vote, they HAD to pass a Constitutional Amendment because otherwise Congress didn't have jurisdiction to say tell Alabama that they must allow blacks to vote....... Etc etc.

Because of the tenth amendment

ETA: “The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people”

Election management isn’t a responsibility given to fedgov in the Constitution. Therefore it’s up to individual states.

Because our government is a federal system, and elections belong to the States ... as they should.

"National standards." You sound like a lib.

The Constitution does not grant a right to vote.

Decentralization of election administration is why a widespread hack of our electoral infrastructure is near impossible.
