Looking at purchasing a new truck this month and trying to decide between the 3.5 eco and the 5.0. Only reason I’m thinking eco is because there is a chance I will be commuting the causeway everyday.

I have a 2016 2.7. No issues whatsoever. Haven't heard of any problems with them since the early 3.5s.

My wife has the 3.5 ecoboost in her expedition. It’s a 2016 and no problems.

More working parts equal more potential problems!

In saying that overall I think they are reliable and sure pull like a mule!

Has there ever been issues with the 2.7? All issues I’ve seen were the 3.5

I put 138K on my 2013 EB 3.5 with zero problems and just traded it in on a diesel F150

The 2.7 was designed from the ground up to be an EB engine so it is believed to be better and performs well. I wish Ford would use this same design for a 4.0 V8 EB. Should be around 500 HP and torque.

Probably the #1 2.7 complaint on the F150 forums is some owners having the plastic oil pan leak. If it's going to leak it will happen with relatively low miles. The oil pan can't be removed and reinstalled so it has to be replaced. If not done properly it may take 2 or more attempts to get the new pan to seal.

Not F150 engine specific but lots of posts about leaking Pano Sunroof. It's a spendy fix once the warranty is up.

One of my friends is getting ready for major top end work on his 2016 @ 100k miles. His fuel mileage and power went to shite. The intake valves are carboned up to hell from EGR and being direct injected you dont get fuel cleaning the back of the valve. I think fords solution is to add an injector where one would normally be in tandem with the direct injector. It will not be covered under warranty.

He said the new ones are supposed to have 2 injectors from the factory but still, frick that.

Why would you want a diesel 1/2 ton?
serious question.

I think PapaPogey has had some issues, but it was an earlier model.

Yeah I've read about the earlier models on here, but I'm looking at a 17 or 18.

Have any of you had issues with the electric steering on the F150's? I'm just curious. I can't believe they have a plastic oil pan.

I have a 2017 screw 2.7 EB.

I haven't had any issues but only have 16k on it so I wouldn't expect to have any yet.
