On off the bench (104.9) during Bugger McFarland's call in segment, he was asked about the Bama Butt Beatdown. His response was that in his opinion LSU's big men we're dominated by stronger, more athletic Bama linemen who wanted it more. Simple! He also said that the gap has widened there and that there is alot of blame to go around but the evaluation process must start by looking at what happens when new players arrive at LSU. He directly mentioned that the evaluation must start with coach Moffit and how the players are developed there. There are growing opinions that are finally coming forward related to this ongoing problem.

My whole life whenever Moffitt's name was mentioned....it was just an understanding that everyone in the room acknowledged that he was an amazing strength coach. But why is that? Is he? I'm not saying he's not, what he is responsible for directly correlates to physicality in the trenches. And we get our arse whooped by Alabama every year. So maybe it's time for a new guy? Or at least a deeper assessment into our team's strength and conditioning development

And not a mention of O???

Shocking!!!!

Booger pimped hard for O Just like Spears did and that's why neither of them will ever criticize him.

DL is soft, no depth, unmotivated??

Blame Moffit instead of the guru that has been in charge of that unit for four years now

Have to hand it to him, this media shield that O cooked up with Prince is pretty damn effective.

Going to keep those fat checks rolling in until the wheels completely fall off

This has a problem for years! People want to say we just need more talent. How about reviewing how players are developed. They aren't as strong and explosive as they have been and that starts with moffit! But he's the best in the business, right?

I thought Spears was a Saban man.

Former walk on here to share my thoughts on Moffitt:

The spring and summer work outs were the most physically and mentally challenging things I've been through to date. Each player was evaluated and given a regimen depending on target goals and position. This wasn't like going to the rec or 24 hour fitness and working out.

For spring work outs, two players were assigned one personal trainer. That personal trainer was assigned to break you.

This was ten years ago. Maybe Moffitt has changed, but when I was there.. it was something else.

I think Moffit is old news. Time to bring in someone younger. Cochran running circles around him (and everyone for that matter)

But I’ve noticed a lot that our guys are no longer as physically dominant and developed physically.

There is alot of blame to go around for sure and if "O" wants to be successful "relative to" LSU standards, he had better address this segment of the program. The harsh statements made by "O" during his post game presser were exactly how he felt as was the case when he said that "we need a kicker". We see how that worked out and we can only hope that the results are the same this time. This isn't Nick Saban. Lol

2 things that most stood out to me that are along the same thought process:

1) The Bama players look more solid... not bigger/taller, but just put together better, and that's on both the preseason Strength and conditioning and the in-season strength and conditioning. Only a few LSU players looked as solid (or maybe the word is mature). Moffit?

2) Bama lines play with better leverage. I don't know if that's strictly their intrinsic talent, another nod to their strength and conditioning or if they're developed in some magical way by Saban and staff to stay balanced, bend at the hips and keep their pad level lower than the competition.

It's amazing/inexplicable that their D-Line is SOOOO much better than EVERYONE else's offensive line... Not just LSU but EVERYBODY'S talent. It's truly inexplicable that the talent in major college football can be so different for one team.

The only time I see Bama "struggle" is against a team that uses the "gas 'em out" strategy. Spread the formation, run them sideline to sideline, and use strategic HUNH if your D gets a 3-out and your offense gets the initial first down.

BearCrocs, thanks for the insight.
People are simply looking for something to press their finger into regarding blame for a beat down. Fans are in full melt. Moffit is certainly not the reason we lost.

Or maybe it’s because they know more about football than you.

Maybe.

Just maybe.

Ya think?

For the most part, I agree with his analysis. They were just bigger, faster and stronger at almost every level it seemed.
