There is just simply no reason LSU with its athletes should be ranked 100+ in total offense.
you realize this has been a problem prior to SE right? Hell we had offenses with better talent that were constantly ranked in the 100's passing and not real good in total offense.

Absolutely. People have been defending our lines getting beat by mid majors for years. Hell, SLU gave our offensive line trouble. It's time to move on
He's done a good job for 19 years, but it's time.
need new blood at the S&C and OC

quote:I said earlier in the year if E isn't going to get it done- demote him. I don't want him fired, midseason or at the end. He's not a bad coach by any means and is a key recruiter. In fact he's underrated as a recruiter.
and i'm not clamoring for SE's head. I think he is doing a good job with what he's got to work with.
but if we do, we need to get the right fit for our school. and, get him more tools to work with, which is happening
That being said, he was improving. I was seeing positive moves in both playcalls and execution. Yes, the OL is limiting and his reluctance to 'plan around that' with his 'system' is, and was, disappointing.
But that improvement seemed to halt this weekend. You can nitpick the playcalls, but the 'philosophy' behind them was regressive. We retreated into a shell somewhat. Less RPO (with nary a single pass out of it), less motion, etc.
We did run alot of 4 WR sets, but very little of those were rubs and outlet routes. The progression ran sideline to sideline and didn't have much depth (best I can tell). So what that means is we weren't planning on 'throw to spot' routes (sometimes used as outlets).
That was my biggest fear pre-season regarding E, he would retreat into a shell for big games. This is not the first time this year. I'm going to say my fear has been realized.

The coaching has been really bad for a long time, fellas. Really bad. No one wants to face that reality.

Through 9 games we have 6 TD passes and 4 INT and one QB has taken every snap. A third of those TD passes came against SELA. Just to put in perspective, Nick Fitzgerald threw for 4 TD's vs. La. Tech. We had zero.
We have no pass package in the red zone. It's a fire drill.
We are trotting out 6-7 WR's in game 9. We have the #1 and #2 WR recruits playing behind juniors like Giles and Sullivan who couldn't get separation if I were covering them seeing more PT than Marshall and Chase.
Burrow isn't Drew Brees but at this point in his development he's not Danny Etling. I don't think its an overstatement to say he's regressed and certainly hasn't progressed since he left Ohio State. Of course that happens when you have no QB coach. You have Ensminger putting on his OC hat for the first time in a decade and you have no QB coach at all. You have 2 WR coaches, one of which clearly is not ready to be a teacher (Joseph) and one who has been coaching professionals for 25 years and is 75 years old. How is that going to relate to teaching 18-19 year olds? It doesn't.

Yeah, LSU is basically trotting out FCS level talent at this point
We are 7-2 in the best conference in America with one of the toughest schedules and we have beaten 3 top 10 teams or has everyone forgot this already!! After the Georgia win LSU fans were praising the same man they want to fire now! Stupid people that don't understand football.

Yes I do.
I also realize that comparing this 2018 offense to every other LSU offense going back to 2007, it is significantly worse in just about every category.
LSU's offense sucked before E, and now it sucks worse.

well then, you are retarded
LSU needs to be running a power read option offense that can throw the ball...which would fit nicely with LA recruiting.

Oh there's more? Moffitt needs to go. And we need a new OC. I don't understand why the school is so afraid of hiring Kendal Briles or someone to modernize this offense

do you remember 2015? how many yards did LF run for? that oline was being touted as one of the best we ever had.

Outside of the Georgia game the offense has been horrific. Just because Joe exudes confidence and there isn't the typical QB controversy people don't seem to be as adamant about the offensive ineptness. LSU is not "just a QB away" from being a MEDIOCRE offense, LSU is an entire offense system away from being a MEDIOCRE offense.

I think Quality always trumps continuity. The defense has 3 DCs in 3 years and was better in 2016.
If you have the athletes, defense can turn on a dime. Offense is different - everything the scheme does changes the blocking scheme - how much the TEs do in pass protection, the route tree, the timing, the snap, EVERYTHING changes with a new offensive scheme. Yes, quality trumps there as well, but it is quality of, particularly, the QB, the OTs, the feature back and the top 2 receivers are paramount in this case - the "scheme" just puts them in better position to be successful.
Now, you can "scheme down" on offense, but you can't scheme up. No amount of OC talent can make a QB "better" or offensive linemen "better" - that's kind of where we've been - certainly since 2013 - working with moving pieces that just weren't up to the quality of the overall system.
And trending down on offense, unfortunately.

So if we go 10-2 and over achieve on everyone in America's preseason predictions you believe this body of work is headed in the wrong direction? you sir then would be considered a retard!

And I'll go on record - it isn't Ens' fault. He's not the solution, either. That's not an attack. I'm not the solution, either. And I have a soft spot for Ens for a lot of nostalgic reasons.

I love SE. It's not personal, but the offense is bad. It had to change with Miles and it has to change now.

10 - 2 or not , E is not the answer, just like under Miles the team is achieving mostly on the backs of the defense period
