if you aren't planning on silencing it, its not worth it. No other reason to get one other than pure novelty. Sure it'll kill a deer at 100 yards but it wasn't meant to be a 100 yard deer rifle. If you're wanting something in .30 cal then get a Savage .308 for under $400 with scope. Personally go with 6.5 creedmore its quite the rage these days. And FYI if someone offers you a .260 or a .280 you punch them in the face and don't be friends with them anymore.

Huh? .280 has to be one of the most capable standard long action calibers ever invented. And every manufacturer loads for it these days.

.260 and especially .280 are fine deer calibers.
