Sign him up. Seems like a damn good athlete to add to the roster. We can find a place for him to flourish.

Help us Obi Melifonwu. You're our only hope.

This is a no brainer.

I'm guessing he didn't pick their system up right away.
Gruden has no patience benched Conley for the same reason

The guy has OLB written all over him. Could probably bring great edge pressure too. Blitzing off the edge with that speed/size would be ridiculous.

I always loved this guy's talent and I thought his outcome would 100% depend on fit. He's definitely a tweener. Not big enough or instinctual for LB and a littler too big for a modern Safety. 25 years ago he would have been perfect as a SS but the game has evolved too much. If someone can fit him in as a hybrid player, a coverage 3rd down LB and blitzer, he may be able to be developed.

But let's be real, teams don't normally give up on 2nd round picks quite this quickly. There's a reason. Hopefully we can figure out his role and he can contribute.

Gruden is a unique type of coach.

Yeah I think you gotta throw everything we know about how teams treat highly touted players out the window this season on anything involving Gruden.

Love the Obi Wan Melifonwu joke... nicely done

Frick it why not. It is worriesome as to why they dropped him so quick but he’s good in man coverage and with his skill set he could be an effective blitzer. With enough coaching he could turn into a solid LBer.

Well there is this:

Melifonwu was a second round draft pick by Oakland in the 2017 NFL Draft, but was then placed on the Raiders’ injured reserve list with a designation to return after sustaining a hip injury. He returned two months later, but then was placed on IR again that December after learning that he would require surgery on the hip.

Melifonwu was waived/injured by the Raiders in August, but then placed back on injured reserve after clearing through the waiver wire. He was finally released on Oct. 23 among a bevy of roster subtractions made by the team on both sides of the ball in 2018.
