The exercise is closed to the public and the media.
The exercise is to ensure the area is prepared and ready to respond in an active shooter situation. The exercise will include apprehending a shooter, evacuations and treating victims at the scene.
At least 50 volunteers from the Squirrel Hill community and the Jewish Community Center staff will serve as role players for the exercise.

That's not recent and actually very typical for churches and other community organizations. They typically conduct these on an annual basis. It goes along with a lot of their other emergency planning.

They must train and drill on mass casualty CAUSATION not prevention. Both sites had double digit deaths after training.

And the "planes being hijacked and crashed into buildings" drill on 9/11.
There is also a drill associated with that other event that I won't mention, because it brings out all the people with rage issues.
It's just a coincidence that so many of these events have drills associated with them. Nothing to see here.
