Nebraska Carries Out 1st Execution Using Fentanyl

All this to say: We the makers don't sell to intermediaries who sell to prisons. We require the 3rd party sell to another 4th party who then sells it prisons.
So each prison or state creates these 4th parties and sets up political cronies to make a killing in the process of killing.

Most of this stuff is to avoid offending the sensibilities of the observers. The electric chair was meant to replace hanging, which could go gruesomely wrong if not done correctly. But the electric chair had its own problems. Thus, lethal injection. What could go wrong with that? A lot of things, apparently.

For this particular death row inmate I have no concern. For any that might be innocent, I have a great deal of concern. It's bad enough that their lives are being unfairly taken away. I see no reason to torture them as we do it.
Unfortunately we have no foolproof way of separating innocence from guilt 100% of the time. As a result we have no choice but to trust the legal system to get it right. And as with any Government venture mistakes will happen. That is why even prisoners who are accused of the most heinous crimes still have rights. To protect those who get who get screwed by the system as best as is possible (supposedly anyway)
