Hell no. That bridge will be haunted for sure

Not saying you’re wrong, but is there any reason for the US to build a 34+ mile bridge over water?
Not 34 miles.....but maybe long Island to Connecticut?
We have the causeway in Louisiana, but it's a very simple design compared to the one in the OP.

Driving from Boston to Seattle on I-90 would be the ultimate dream roadtrip.

one was designed in the 50's.... by hand(thinking about ti it really wouldnt by that hard). One was designed in 2010's with finite element analysis.
Fun fact: cable stayed bridges could not be analyzed until the development of finite element analysis computer programs.

Chinamen are so smart. They can turn a wristwatch into a computer.

Yep. So if they claim it's the

it's misleading.
The Causeway remains the single longest continuous bridge over water in the world.

No shot you are getting me to drive thru a 7 km tunnel.

Americans like robust infrastructure but they don't want to pay for it. We can't even get a fricking bridge built.
Don't tax me, bro.

Seems like a pointless project.

How so? Seems really convenient for anyone that flies into Hong Kong to go to Macau . Or anywhere west and be able to avoid going through Shenzhen and possibly Guangzhou. Or anyone leaving from Hong Kong in general.

How many people did those women who built the 20ft bridge in Miami kill?

The bridge to the Keys is pretty damn long

Well 18 people being killed on one project would never be accepta
11 People died building the Golden Gate Bridge
96 workers were killed building the Hoover Dam
350 white Americans were killed building the Panama Canal

Looks exactly like the bridge/tunnel north of Norfolk...the Chesapeake Bay Bridge.

Something about being China built would cause me to have reservations.

I would drive it (once or twice).
I heard Dash Rip Rock when I read this thread-
“It’s concrete ribbon cutting across the muddy churn
It’s a high bridge piece of road took a real bad turn
It runs from Mandeville on in to Metairie
It’s the longest bridge a human will ever see
It’s the lonnnnnnnnnnnnngggggggggggg, the longest bridge in the world.
Well, It’s the longest cement turd in the world
Well the fish they are all puzzled
By this awesome span.
When they see the lake ponchartrain causeway it makes ‘em jump in the fryin’ pan
Well it’s a big and grey and ugly and broken but it’s a monument to man. If you want to say it’s a real long bridge – [pause]you can.
It’s the lonnnnnggggggg....everybody sing along.....everybody who’s ever driven across the causeway – sing it – and you know you can still drive across it because even Katrina couldn’t knock it down.
It’s the lonnnnnnnngggggggest bridge in the world. Well it’s the longest cement turd in the world. It’s still the longest....”

That's because the government already gets enough money from us... by a lot.
Ever realize the amount of waste we have in our military, government agencies, etc. ?? They get plenty but of course it's never enough.
Our Fed and state governments are the most inefficient entities in history.
