quote:

Chinese President Xi Jinping has officially opened the world's longest sea crossing bridge, nine years after construction first began.

Including its access roads, the bridge spans 55km (34 miles) and connects Hong Kong to Macau and the mainland Chinese city of Zhuhai.

The bridge cost about $20bn (£15.3bn) and should have opened in 2016.

Construction has been dogged by safety issues - at least 18 workers have died on the project, officials say.

Pretty amazing. The US continues to fall behind other countries in infrastructure.

Well 18 people being killed on one project would never be acceptable in the USA and rightfully so.

Not saying you’re wrong, but is there any reason for the US to build a 34+ mile bridge over water?

That's a weird way to count. The bridge is about 14 miles long.

No, but we can atleast start by not having the longest interstate in the country reduced down to one lane.

thats how other countries try to beat the causeway. China already tried to do this with the Jiaozhou Bay Bridge. But the record was broken into 2 categories.

Some of these people need to move to these wonderful countries that are so much better than the US.
