This chart shows that, over the past decade, the size our insurance deductibles have skyrocketed. Deductibles have grown by 212 percent since 2008 — eight times faster than wage growth, and 12 times faster than inflation.
quote:
Just a decade ago, the average American with employer-sponsored coverage had a deductible of $303. Flash forward just one decade, and that number now sits at $1,350. What this means is that Americans who do need medical care are being asked to spend significantly more to get it. There is a growing number of Americans who have to spend more than $1,000 on medical bills before their health insurance coverage kicks in.

What an abortion of a bill. No wonder the left fought so hard for it.

But Mexicans can get free healthcare to keep them alive long enough to vote for Democrats, which is all that really matters.

Gotta be Bush's fault, right?

My deductible was crazy small compared to what it is today. I think leftist healthcare doctrine did something to that.

"Can you imagine what the deductible would be today had the democrats not stepped in to save medical care in America?"
How long before you get this message beyond my sarcasm?

My deductible is $4,000 per individual, $8,000 per family. My premium $600/mo.
We go to the doctor once or twice a year for minor stuff or just a wellness visit. This year my wife got sick, had a battery of tests and surgery. When I finally needed my insurance it cost a fortune before it kicked in. I've got insurance and still can't afford to get sick.

If only the President could change legislature without going through that pesky Congress, am I right?

How long before Trump gets the blame for skyrocketing premiums and deductibles.

It's not just Obamacare. That was like giving the Insurance Companies mana from heaven, and throwing gasoline on the fire of health care cost increases.
But even if Obamacare hadn't come along, this constant increase in costs wasn't sustainable in the long run.
I forget the numbers, but if the trends continued, by sometime in the 2030-2040 time frame the average American's paycheck was going to totally be dedicated to healthcare.
Obviously that isn't going to happen, but still it is a serious problem.
Going to be a heck of challenge to turn this mess into something workable. I got no ideas, that's for sure.
