Can anyone recommend a honest mechanic in Baton Rouge. Trying to find one who won’t take advantage of my 78 y/o mom. I live in New Orleans and don’t know of any. TIA!

C&R on Burbank near the campus.
They've been there over 30 years and a good, honest shop.

Daniel at Siegen Car Care.
I took my truck to Plantation Tire off Drusilla and was told I needed a laundry list of work. I took it to Daniel for a second opinion. He told me I needed some of the work Plantation told me but a lot of it wasn’t necessary and his prices weren't even close to Plantation.
He said one day he had an elderly lady come in with a quote from the Firestone directly across Siegen. He looked at it and laughed and did the work for not even half the cost.
He said so many places hire mechanics and pay on a commission based scale. They see something “wrong” and they tell the guys at the desk and the desk guys then try to sell you on it. If you get that work done, the shop mechanic gets commission. Daniel said he doesn’t work that way. He said he pays his guys a VERY nice salary who are qualified. He said everybody wins that way. Customer isn’t overcharged and the mechanics are taken care of.
Sorry for the long post. He’s awesome though. Good luck.

They wrote up over $2,000 of unneeded work on my wife's car.
That was based on the opinion given by a shop recommended by her co-worker.
PM & maintenance are 1 thing, but replacing parts for the sake of replacing them is not good practice.

I could give personal recs in Lafayette but all I know about BR comes from the LSU parent page. A ton of OOS parents recommend Tire Engineers, typically the one at 1015 W Lee Dr due to proximity to campus. there are several others in BR. Not certain how broad their services are.
Good luck.
Good luck.

University is good. If it is a transmission issue the place in Gardere is good.

Damn! Is Carol still around?!? 20 years ago that guy single handedly kept my 82 Blazer roadworthy.
