Nothing necessarily wrong with putting a scope on an M1A but you better get a massive cheek riser to be able to look through it. It doesn’t have the slim-and-trim eye positioning of a bolt gun or an AR.

To me, a scope detracts from the aesthetics of the M1 and M1A. I have seen the sniper version of the M1, and they do have a massive check weld strapped on the stock, and the scope is offset forward of the receiver, for obvious reasons. No thanks.

M14 is full auto or selectable
M1A is semi auto for the public

Thanks, in hindsight I should have said, "other than full auto, whats the difference".

Keep ammo in the 150 - 168gr range, avoid soft points, have fun.

I only use 150 grain projectiles, whether hunting or not. You can bend the operating rod using heavier bullets.
