Minnesota's Jimmy Butler is most determined to find a way to the Los Angeles Clippers, league sources tell ESPN. The appeal of partnering with a second star - the Clippers have two max contract slots available in summer free agency - is an intriguing scenario for him.

Are the Clippers going to add 2 better teammates than AD and Jrue, Jimmy? I don't think so.

He’s ball dominant and an ISO player

if you believe in those, his 2017/18 Touch stats on NBA.com are in line with both Holiday's and Rondo's. and he played in vastly different system than what the Pels use. also, isn't the working theory that Holiday needs another primary ball handler to take the pressure off?

He would make Jrue regress

:whispers: what if Holiday played at his absolute peak the last 3 months of the season and is due for a regression regardless?

my Butler concerns are attitude- he's a bulldog, but he's a diva too and age. i think he wants to get one last big deal so he can get that new tv $$ (wonder how much the Wolves drama is about a new contract- Wiggins and Towns contracts dont leave much space for Jimmy).

i'd hate to max him out as he enters his 30s w/ Thibs miles on his legs and 1 season out of the last 5 playing more than 70 games

He’s talented, yes, but that’s not all that goes into building a team.

it's interesting how the board has evolved since Cousins. these same questions re: Cousins were largely waved away. now, Butler is a no go for some because of those things.

not a judgement on anyone. just interesting

2 firsts with the expiring contracts of Hill and Ajinca. We would be a problem for GS.

The Wolves won't entertain anything that doesn't include Jrue seperately or Randle and Mirotic together.

No one is giving them a Jrue level player for a disgruntled star on the wrong side of being young. His desired teams aren't trading Porzingis and Jrue is better than everyone else on the their rosters.

Thibbs wants players.
Hill is not player in his optics.

Moore and Mirotic (played rookie seasons in CHI). Maybe. For the start.

TBH I wont do it...

If you are looking there - look rather for Pels as a 3rd party in the deal

These leaks about star players leaving small market teams to go to big market teams is getting so cliche it’s ridiculous. After basically pinning every well known all star to major markets now they are starting to say the same stuff about lesser known all stars (Kawhi, George, and now Bulter). I’m just waiting on them to say that Embid, Greek freak, and Victor O wants to play in either Miami, LA, or NY but wind up either with a random team not mentioned or their own teams. Then Woj or someone comes out and say that they were always in play but the big market team backed up at the last minute. Everyone knows it’s coming.

And I forgot about Klay. I’m sure they are going to break a story about how he’s tired of being overshadowed by Durant and Curry and wants to go to NY or LA. Either one either become the man a team with the Clippers or team up with his idol LeBron.

a lot miles on his body playing under Thibs.

Not a leader apparently can be divisive in the locker room, as evident in Chicago (Rondo + young guys including Niko vs Butler and Wade) and in ‘Sota.

Not giving up 2 firsts and multiple core pieces for him, extension or not.

Giving up Niko/Moore + picks to add Butler doesn’t get us out of the second round imo, much less to the Finals.

Then next summer Butler is 31, we have no picks, no cap room and the AD situation coming up.

I’d rather roll with what we have

Think about what OKC gave up to get PG.
Oladipo, the #2 pick in the draft 4 years into his career, averaging 16 ppg, although considered to have many flaws.
Sabonis, #11 pick after 1 year in the league.

We don't have 1 of those players, much less two, and that was just to rent PG for a year hoping you could convince him to stay when all indications were he was always going to LA.

I'd give up 2 picks to trade him for Solo/Ajinca. Look at it as 1 pick to give up the two terrible players, and the other to get Butler. I'm sure Minny will get better offers though. I'd throw Moore in there but wouldn't give up 2 firsts if he's going out. Would'nt let Niko or Randall go.

Jimmy reeks of Melo, and i really don't want him anymore, even though I was all about getting him the last year or two. Things have changed with how we play, and what are future can be, and i think we'd be better off without his attitude.

Not that I think we are going to make offer any trade, but PG had more suitors. No one was scared about how PG's game would mesh or lockeroom concerns or about giving him a max deal.

It will be interesting to see what they get for Jimmy, but I think this will be closer to the trade for Kyrie where the most they get is a decent pick and some glorified role players.

I agree about PG and Butlers game comparison, but PG pretty much came out and said he's signing with LA.
I know Butler is basically saying the same thing, but some might think that if OKC could convince PG to stay, then they can convince Butler to stay.

unrealistic trade machine fun:

Ajinca and Bulter to the Clips
Beverly and Solo to Wolves with a first from Clips and Pels.
Galinari to Pels.

I dont like it.

Ajinca and Butler to Nets
Dudley and Moore to Wolves with a protected first from Brooklyn and Pels.
Carroll and Dinwiddie to Pels.

I like it.

Give up two number 1’s but only if he signs for at least 3 years

Sure, but the timing is different and more teams wanted PG on a max deal than I think will want Butler on one. OKC was also basically playing with house money since they got Oladipo and Sabonis for Ibaka.

Butler wants out before the season starts and apparently has his sights set on the Clippers. Unfortunately for him, Jerry West is there now and is too smart to give up a lot to add Butler unless he gets back channel info that he will also get Kyrie.

I think Butler ends up on the Nets. They have numerous assets and want to become a destination for stars. They do have smart management now though so who knows whether they want to commit the max to Butler.

All of these proposals are considering trades from the Pelicans side and not the other one. None of you would want the crap you are offering if you were a fan of the other team.

Meh. It's all valid. The actual trade that is accepted by actual GMs can be something a fan of a given team would've laughed off the board.

I mean, Buddy Hield for Cousins? It happens.

Cue the "Hurr durr, well let's just call LeBron to NO for E'Taun Moore!"

Man would Jimmy Butler fit the Pelicans perfectly. With Bulter, AD, and Evil Jrue we could have the best defensive team in the league. Talk about a championship contender. If we keep Mirotic somehow with them. We could definitely be championship contenders.
