Shows how much Hollywood has lost us and really everyone at this point.

Caught some of it. The opening monologue was pretty good. Michael Che and Colin Jost were actually funny and had me laughing out loud at several jokes.

But it kinda sucked after that. Barry won almost every award it was nominated for. While it was an entertaining show I had actually seen, I don’t know if it deserves that much praise. Comes across as self-indulgent to me that a show about acting and Hollywood always has a good chance of winning awards.

Sometimes I start threads for awards shows that nobody here cares about, but was preoccupied with BCS last night. Also watching Scorsese on TCM.

Notes:

Colin Jost and Michael Che were funnier than expected. Having Che there gave them a lot of options for race humor.

The losers were ridiculously pissed off in almost every category. Very few attempts to fake a smile or excitement for the winners.

They made a big deal about diversity in nominations, but the big winners were the all white shows. You could sense the unease in the room.

I love Fred Armisen but they could've done without his bits with Maya Rudolph.

Highpoints:
-Donald Glover showing up dressed as Teddy Perkins. If he had won it would've been amazing.
-The Oscar Director using his speech to propose. The audience was human for a moment or two. It was really sweet to see that go down.
-The Reparation Emmy presentations. That was damn funny. Best bit of the evening.

Didn't watch it, but I heard Betty White is apparently starting to fade.

If this was already discussed, my apologies. Why was it on Monday night instead of Sunday night? NFL games are on both nights so that is obviously not it.

They'd be better served to have the Emmys before football starts, to be honest.

Who would have thought Katt Williams would win an Emmy?
