Obama to Trump: 'Stop whining'
NOLAN D. MCCASKILL10/18/2016 01:04 PM EDT
President Barack Obama has a blunt message for Donald Trump: “Stop whining.”
Speaking alongside Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi in the Rose Garden, Obama dismissed Trump's incessant talk of a rigged election as a whimper coming out of a campaign that treats this election like a joke.
“There is no serious person out there who would suggest somehow that you could even rig America’s elections, in part because they’re so decentralized and the numbers of votes involved,” Obama said.
“There’s no evidence that that has happened in the past or that there are instances in which that will happen this time,” he continued. “And so, I ‘d advise Mr. Trump to stop whining and go try to make his case to get votes.”
Trump as recently as Tuesday morning maintained that the election is rigged, even attacking Republicans during an interview with conservative radio host Mike Gallagher for breaking with him on his baseless claims.

Balance of the article;
quote:
“One of the great things about America’s democracy,” Obama said, is that the U.S. holds “a vigorous, sometimes bitter, political contest” in which the loser congratulates the winner.
“That’s how democracy survives. Because we recognize that there’s something more important than any individual campaign, and that is making sure that the integrity and trust in our institutions sustains itself because democracy, by definition, works by consent, not by force,” he said. “I have never seen in my lifetime or in modern political history any presidential candidate trying to discredit the elections and the election process before votes have even taken place.”
Obama called such a move an “unprecedented” claim that “happens to be based on no facts.” He noted that election experts of all stripes have said “that instances of significant voter fraud are not to be found.”
The president pointed to Florida, where Republican Rick Scott, a Trump supporter, is governor. “The notion that somehow if Mr. Trump loses Florida it’s because of ‘those people that you have to watch out for,’ that is both irresponsible and, by the way, doesn’t really show the kind of leadership and toughness that you’d want out of a president.”
“If you start whining before the game’s even over, if whenever things are going badly for you and you lose, you start blaming somebody else, then you don’t have what it takes to be in this job,” Obama said. “Because there are a lot of times when things don’t go our way — or my way. That’s OK. You fight through it. You work through it. You try to accomplish your goals.”
Obama said he believes if Hillary Clinton were to lose in November, he’d expect his former secretary of state to concede and vow to work with President Trump to ensure Americans benefit from an effective government.
“If he got the most votes then it would be my expectation of Hillary Clinton to offer a gracious concession speech and pledge to work with him in order to make sure that the American people benefit from an effective government,” he said. “And it would be my job to welcome Mr. Trump, regardless of what he’s said about me or my differences with him on my opinions, and escort him over to the Capitol, in which there would be a peaceful transfer of power. That’s what Americans do. That’s why America’s already great.”

This ties in with how they all freaked out over that Trump wasn’t going to accept the results of the election. My how things changed.
This is why it’s impossible to respect the left. They’ve shown their arse too many times.

A downvote right off the bat for the two posts. Truth hurts

Where does weaponizing the Department of Justice, Intelligence Apparatii, and IRS fall into this princely ideal of American democracy?

This also ties in with how Russia was trying to hurt Hillary because they thought she was going to win. It wasn’t a ploy to get Trump elected. It was a ploy to hurt Hillary to make her a weak President.
Obama and the Democrats knew what was going on. That’s why they downplayed rigging an election and any interference. They didn’t want to legitimize the criticism of Hillary.

Curious. Was President Obama right then or is he right now?

How can anyone downvote this post and its followup.
They are down voting FACTs.
You have made no comment other than = 'times have changed'
Yet someone disagrees with the FACT that Obama and the rest of the DEMOCRATs said and did the exact opposite - in the most egregious manner ever heard of in the nation's history (OK - I'll except the time the DEMOCRATs went to war over a presidential election.)
So this is the SECOND most egregious action the DEMOCTRATs have taken to protest an American Presidential Election in which they didn't like the outcome.
WAY TO GO DEMOCRATs - you are dirty, rotten, dishonorable, hypocritical to the core.
eta - AND - in the first case they ended up assassinating the POTUS - and are now fomenting the irrationality to repeat THAT process.
ONE WAY OR ANOTHER!!!!!

barack obama tossed his grandmother under the bus when it became politically expedient for him to do so.
Having him do the same to the electoral process, when it suits his needs, shouldn't shock anyone. The man lacks character. The man lacks depth.
This is par for the course. Which ironically is another accomplishment obama failed to achieve.

According to Odumbass yesterday, these things are all horrible and Trump has suggested doing them via Twitter, could you imagine...

In essence, Obama remains a glorified community organizer whether it was pre election weaponizong the IC, DOJ and FBI against Trump or seeking to do the same in speeches like the one he gave this week.

Has this long-legged Mac daddy ever accomplished anything ? I mean beside being black enough to suit the DEMs only goal, and being eloquent enough to read a teleprompter.
What did he accomplish that was good for America??

Democrats are treasonous garbage

In all seriousness, Obama is the textbook display of a dangerous sociopath.
Yesterday his display of narcissism and dishonesty was breathtaking. Since his is a Progressive, he can get away with that.
Obama encapsulates everything that is wrong in society today. Watching him take credit for things he said would never happen (economy) while simultaneously blaming Trump for things that happened under his watch (interfering with the election) was astounding. Then watching the MSM and his ilk fawn over every lie made me happy. Obama killed the Democrat party. His arrogance will never allow him to see that.

The outgoing president doth protest WAY too much, methinks.

You'd have to assume that he was highly disappointed in her losing for so many different reasons, the above included. And yet, STILL not an honest word out of the man as he continues to hold her water while shitting all over Trump to this day. His words should be tainted to anyone with half a brain, instead he's still a Hawaiian Kenyan Chicagoan god to many.
Reality is he couldn't even LEAVE the WH without screwing up AND telling massive amounts of lies to cover his tracks.

If Hillary had won and they were betting on it since they tried to rig it that way. That is the reason he said this. They wanted to make sure to humiliate Trump and make sure no one dare challenge them again.
Since they have no integrity they just act as if this was never said.

This is probably my favorite Obammy quote, I like to use it whenever the topic is appropriate.
We need a thread topic for the Top Ten Obammy Quotes! There would be some doozies.
