I agree. Hate it, but can’t deny it.

DeltaDoc, I’m afraid they were on the trip with him. So sad

I literally cannot fathom the depths of personal hell he must have been in to be willing to commit an act like this at all, much less with his father and son on the trip with him.

Not to get off topic but there was a study that came out a week or two ago that didn't get much playtime that said exactly that. Pretty much said that the report that came out a couple years back that blew up in the headlines was not conclusive at all.

Just to be devil's advocate here, it has no been confirmed that it was suicide. This is the internet where someone says something and it takes off

Either way it is tragic but hopefully you are right. Suicide is bad enough but to do it in that situation is pretty sorry.

You commit suicide with your son on the trip and there is no doubt that you are a coward, piece of shite.

you have no idea what the dude may have been going through in his head or how long he had been dealing with it. Coward is a strong word for that. Mental illness is real.

I think most HCP with any sense knew the original report was speculative at best.

Sorry but there’s nothing that makes this ok. Coward he is.

Ultimately, I tend to agree but don’t want to dance on the grave.

I’ve heard of business owners committing suicide. Most are Type A, worriers or both. Their identity is tied to success or failure. When things go wrong, they don’t see a way out and panic.

Wouldn’t be surprised if there were financial problems that put gas on a flame for him. He had a lot of people that wanted him to fail I think.

People need God in their lives and a reason and way to understand this world IMO.

Driven people put a lot of pressure on themselves, these people are probably in a higher risk for suicide than others. Most of the people I know who have committed suicide could easily be described as very successful.

Something doesn't add up. He's on a hunting trip with his dad and son and decides to kill himself?

I'm not saying it's impossible, but I, and I'm sure many of you, are at our happiest when hunting with fathers, grandfathers, sons, friends, etc.

No official articles have said suicide, but some posters on hunting forums said that has been confirmed from his close friends. His CTE is mentioned a ways down in this article. Broke his neck in college.

I’m type A and a business owner. I’ve also dealt with depression in my life. To each his own, but it always gets better.

Life throws curveballs at you (many times) to teach you a lesson so you can build your character and become a better person. If you can see it like that, then there’s always a way out. If you can’t, then I’m sorry but you’re weak minded and ultimately only the strong survive. (This isn’t directed at you personally, just at anyone looking to end their life)

Hearing from people in the know that it was suicide BUT he was not on a hunt. He had already returned from the hunt with his son and father.
