these numbers are based off of TV markets, not population within city limits

Market population is similar to metro population. Miami has a huge metro population

Columbus metro population is 2.1 million.
Greater Miami population is 5.5 million.

Columbus has swallowed up every unincorporated village in Franklin county. There are corn fields inside the Columbus city limits.

It's even more impressive that with less than half the people of Greater Miami, Columbus beat them out. It just shows how highly Buckeye fans think of Burrow. I bet Cleveland isn't far behind on that list either.

This, with a lot of "I don't give a frick" in Miami sprinkled in as well.

Keep Googling.....the city proper perhaps but look at the TV media market size and metro area size. In metro area population Columbus is about a third as a large as Miami.

I thought this was fairly interesting too.

The game also earned a 25.5 rating in New Orleans, which made it the highest-rated regular-season game on ABC/ESPN in that market in nearly three years.

But... I guess that has to do with CBS usually covering our biggest games.

The local radio guys who were calling the OSU-TCU game at Jerry World reported tonight that the OSU fans in the stadium were cheering when they saw the score updates at the end of the LSU-Auburn game.
