You just refuse to understand that this was his first Start EVER in a collegiate game. Against a top 10 team. For Christ sakes give the kid a couple of games.

You seem to be easy to upset. Please point out where I ran the kid down in my post. All I did was state a fact that his passing stats weren't much different then what we're use to from our quarterbacks. Quarterbacks who took a lot of heat for having stats similar to what Burrow had Sunday night.

I thought the young man played a pretty good game, all things considered.

He also audibled into the 50 yard touchdown run by Brossette.

He handed off good on that play too.

he had 4 drops and threw 5 balls away to avoid a sack, so 9 of his 13 incompletions fell under this umbrella

2 more were batted, and a 3rd was a perfect pass to Sullivan up the right sideline that was broken up by the DB.

But wouldnt situations like this happen to all qbs in a football game?

He managed the game fine and did well with his checks at the line

But 11/24 and 138 yards is what it is at some point

every game is different. You'll have games where WRs don't drop easy balls, and QBs who will take sacks instead of throwing the ball away. Some incapable of even escaping to be in that position.

what's your opinion of it.

He looked about like Etling

I saw nothing against Miami that showed me he is "clearly the best qb we have had since Mett"

That isnt saying he wont or cant be, but I think people are lying to themselves when they say Sunday he showed that

He looked like Etling or his final stats looked like Etling?

When the highlight of your night as QB is a handoff for a 50 yard rushing TD, or the 5 times you throw the ball away, that does not equal above average.

I hope the kid balls out from here on out but the facts are that he was below average.

Both

He manged the game, had a few tough runs, didnt make mistakes with the ball, but didnt wow me with any throws

He looked like Etling

And the final stats mirrored that as well

When a WR drops a QB's perfect pass, who looks below average to you on that type of play?

Or when a DL comes untouched, & you have to throw the ball away, who looks below average there?

did you record the game?

i want you to go to 8:35 1Q. 3rd & 15, he rolls to his right, throws the ball 30 yards in the air, right against the sideline. Jefferson drops it, mind you. But go watch that throw and tell me Danny Etling ever made a throw like that

He definitely had wr's drop balls that should've easily been caught. That's not on him. But the point about the DL not being blocked is on him to make a play. The 3 for 16 on 3rd downs is a major concern.

I can't take you seriously right now. In a few weeks when this starts to click, we are going to bring this up to you and you will drop the

I never said he wont or cant be great

But at that point you will know that people were NOT lying to themselves when they say Sunday he showed that.

Because he did. Watch the game again. Separate what he actually did, with the times his teammates let him down at WR & on the OL.

I'm giving you something to work with. Im not playing the fence, telling you he may or may not be good. I trust my eyes and know what I saw. Really good player & will be asked to do a lot more than they ever asked Etling to do.

....You've seen Danny Etling make throws like that..lol please.

If you look at Miami's defensive stats from last year, then Joe was a little below average in most areas. Most qb's threw a little better. Not a whole lot, but slightly better completion rate and more yards. But, and this huge with Joe, he was above average in interceptions. Miami averaged more than 1 interception per game in 2017. Joe didn't give them that. He made good decisions and had a good game and led his team to victory. Probably didn't put up Heisman numbers against them...lol. I still think he's going to be a great qb. And I think his stats will be above average when he leaves.

Etling would have taken 5 or 6 sacks on Sunday. The coaching staff would no let Etling throw the ball over the middle either. Would have been a completely different game with Etling. Etling would not have done the audible either.
