I have the distinct feeling, eerie if you'd like, that just like 2011 vs. Oregon this could be a season defining win, or loss.

Dude the Oregon game was not even close to the defining game of the 2011 season.

I disagree with that statement.

LSU-Oregon was supposed to be very competitive, lots of people wondered if LSU could keep up with their pace.
We pounded them into the dirt, we had them calling TO to regroup on defense (we started going no-huddle toss-dive and running over them). We had defensive linemen running down their speedy backs from behind.

That was a Top 5 team we dominated, and it opened a lot of eyes about just how good LSU was going to be.

LSU-Miami is supposed to be a quality win for the 'Canes. They are supposed to disrupt our offense and create havoc, and move enough on our defense to pull away in the 2nd half. That's why they are Top 10, and we're marginal Top 25.
If we hang the entire game, it shows that LSU is underrated and Miami maybe overrated.

If we wear them down and put them away, then it shows, basically, that rumors of LSU's demise are premature, and that we're likely a Top 10 quality team that should make some noise this season.

Maybe the best analogy was the South Carolina game a few years back. They had Clowney and Lattimore, and beating LSU was going to prove they were legitimate and that we were slipping. Instead, we won, and the national guys said "Oops, LSU isn't done after all".
Miami is going to be talked about during the pregame and early part of the game the same way; and if we win, it will be another "Oops, LSU is still LSU" again.

What?? It absolutely was. The entire offseason was dedicated to conditioning for that game. It was the tone setter for the season. Not even close? What are you smoking
