Shooting House Doors

Building a special shooting house / box blind for my father out of 29 Gauge Metal. The deminsions are 4 x 8 x 6 1/2 tall. The interior will be insulated with spray foam along with 4 single hung windows and a Buddy Heater with 10 lb propane tank. Trying to decide on what type of door to put on it. He will also have a high back office chair to make sure he enjoys himself in comfort.
Any suggestions or pictures you can share.

Check EBay for a used RV door. Should be able to find something around $150.
Deer View Windows- Blind Doors
These may be a little expensive that’s why I would check eBay or maybe a RV shop to see if they have any lying around.

I plan on keep the height relatively low because I don’t want him climbing above 10’, so it will be 8 ft off the ground, sitting on 6x 6’s . The travel trailer door is a great idea, will have to check out ebay....the two fields of soy beans and standing corn should keep him entertained till Feb 10th....
Plan on starting the build soon, rounding up all the materials first.

Mobile home door is probably cheaper than an RV door. I think 32"x 72" is the smallest mobile home door available

Probably get a fema trailer door for dirt cheap Used to be a thousand of them in Livingston looked like a grave yard.

I’d try to find a cheap exterior aluminum door if you going all out like that. Can even put a deadbolt on it

No. A urinal that drains through the floor.

Yes. Don’t build it out of 29 gauge metal. Noisy, cold, and even small branches falling on the roof are gonna make a hole. Yeah, I know, people put 29 gauge on their roof. You only get away with that where there is no danger of limbs.
Really though, it will be a much better and more comfortable stand with wood on the walls. Will warm up easier and every time someone accidentally touches a wall it won’t scare everything out of the woods.

I no longer hunt out of metal shooting houses. Too many evening hunts with an afternoon sun turning that thing into an inferno in the early season. The spray foam might fix that, or it might not.

Not a fan of the 4x8 build. To skinny and kinda long. We have went to 6X6 and man what a difference in comfort on this layout. 5X7 has been a good build as well. Like both over the 4X8

Just make a door with the metal and some 2x's. We've built 8 or 9 like that so far.

You can get a vinyl one of these at lowes for around 100 bucks. You can take off the bottom strip cut it to the height you need then put the bottom strip back. You can paint the glass or leave it unpainted. I would cut a slit in the screen then you have another shooting hole.
