It’s a great day to be a Mexican auto worker!

Getting a nice fat raise from 2 bucks to 15 bucks an hour has to feel amazing.

Liberals will complain that they deserve 15 bucks an hour for serving coffee and the Mexicans don’t for building cars

Meltandflow should move to Mexico and get a fricking job.

in a way if they really do this, i think they would just pay the tariffs instead, but if they do it, then overnight they shut down a big incentive to cross the boarder for better paying jobs if they can stay in mexico and make $15 an hour.

Wait. Are Trump supporters now in favor of the gov't arbitrarily setting minimum wages?

There aren’t 11 million auto jobs down there.

So, we are OK with the gov't arbitrarily setting wages as long as they aren't wages in THIS country? Even though our country forced them to do so?

Of course not, but a bunch of Mexicans who suddenly have a substantial income is going to have a huge impact on local economies. New businesses start springing up around these communities because there is suddenly a lot of disposable income, and you might not see Jose and the fam headed across the border. Maybe they stay behind or come home to help run these businesses. If there is one thing I know about Mexicans, they love to start their own business. They are very entrepreneurial

You realize that this is because those wage hikes are effectively a tax on American consumers right?

So you’re for people living in poverty as long as you save a buck or two on your next vehicle purchase? Why is 15 dollars an hour minimum wage praised and lauded here but jeered by the same people such as yourself when it occurs in Mexico?

In theory it would make manufacturing in the US more viable. In theory

Don't buy cars made in Mexico. There are other options, no?

No I am not.

Exactly.
Instead, we have the gov't of our country forcing the gov't of another country to raise its minimum wages thus effectively raising taxes on all the consumers of those products. When will our small gov't conservatives stop using the power of the federal gov't to force change on us?
