What do y'all need to see to feel good about Coach O this year? The talent is there...

There is a pretty interesting thread over on SECRant that links an interesting article from SB Nation
Based on the article; no team that has less than a 50% "blue chip ratio" has ever won a national championship (since these types of stats have been kept anyway). This year, there are 13 teams that have a legit shot - LSU is one of them
Based on that article; LSU has been one of the worst performing teams in the nation, based on talent levels at each school, in the last several years (in before "UGA fan would know about under-performing")
Only USC, Texas and Michigan have shown less on-field success with comparable talent
if I were an LSU fan, I would want to see AT LEAST a 9-3 record to feel good this year, and anything less than 8 wins would put me firmly in the "O has to go" crowd. Out of your big games with Miami, Aub, UGA & Bama; I would want to see AT LEAST one win and preferably two, or I would be feeling restless
plus, I would also want to see the Tigers at least competing for the SEC West next year
Alabama has been a monster, so I do think that a requirement to win the SEC is probably unfair, but there is no excuse to not at least be in the running late into the season most years
to be fair, outside of the Troy game last year (and maybe the State game as well); Orgeron has not done too bad
but y'all did not run off one of the more successful football coaches in school history to settle for "not too bad"
Here is the list of teams that theoretically have a national title shot based on blue chip talent levels:
Alabama 77%
Ohio State 76%
USC 71%
Georgia 69%
Florida State 67%
LSU 63%
Auburn 62%
Clemson 61%
Michigan 57%
Texas 55%
Oklahoma 53%
Penn State 53%
Notre Dame 51%

I need to see an improved offense and the ability to make adjustments on the fly..

O has built a talented team. No reason this team can’t win 10+ games

Right now, there isn't a damn thing o can do to make me feel "good" about him being the head coach.
But double digit wins, with no stupid losses (like Troy), and a top ten recruiting class would be a decent start.

The press conference naming him the head coach at Nicholls.

At least 9 wins, and 2 wins out of the Miami, UGA, Auburn, Bama slate.
There’s no room for waiting. The pressure is there. It will always be there. The moment LSU is not held to high standards is the moment a long term decline settles in.

Here are my expectations for this season:
1. Beat miami
2. Go at least 2-2 against bama, georgia, auburn, and miss st.
3. Win every other regular season game
4. TBD on the postseason.
If O can do this that puts LSU at 10-2 and that's good enough for how tough this schedule is.
This finish would make me feel very good about the state of LSU football. Anything worse and O is on the hot seat (way worse and he should be gone)
I feel this is a reasonable expectation for this season. Anything higher and you are being unrealistic, anything lower and you are settling for mediocrity.

8 wins and he has to go IMO
The only exception would be a ridiculous fluke amount of injuries to key players
Like if 3 out of the 4 starting linebackers went out for the season by week 3 I'd be willing to have some patience

SEC West title, or at least still be challenging for it by Bama.

Better record than Herman and Jimbo.
If he fails who is your next pick for HC?

So LSU has more talent than 10 of the 12 teams they play this year. 10-2 is the bare minimum.
At what point is O going to be expected to beat a team with more talent?
I don't expect them to beat Auburn at Auburn, but they need to split bama and Georgia. They need to run the table on all of those teams they have outmanned.
Can LSU ever expect to outcoach a team? Probably not. And there's the problem with this staff. More than likely they will be outcoached by multiple coaching staffs this year.
