For coolinary in NOLA for good service I’ll leave a 30-40 percent tip

This new generation sure hates the service industry.
No, just entitles employees that cant function like the rest of the working world.

I like the "Don't just tip $1 per drink" people. frick you. It took you 45 seconds to get me my draft beer. You think you're worth more than $80 an hour doing unskilled labor?
$1 per drink on my $3.5 beer is a better percentage than they could every hope for. Grow the frick up service industry people.

I have a minimum tip of $5 even if my bill is small. I just feel like too much of a cheap arse putting anything less than that on the tip line. So if I go to the bar for $2 beers, drink 5, I'm still leaving $5 on a $10 bill. My All Star Special with a white milk was $11 yesterday, left $5. Guess I'm not a tight wad like some of yall.

I don’t mind tipping but it pisses me off if someone feels entitled to a certain amount to be tipped
Posted on 8/22/18 at 8:24 am to tiger1014
when i worked off of tips i made anywhere from 500 to 2000 a week in tips. i didn't see a reason to get upset over the few folks who didn't tip.

I tip based on service. Takes the same amount of effort regardless of the price. frick a 20% rule. If you don't give me good service you're getting 3.50

Then she told us that tip wasn't included which was a complete and total lie being we were in Europe.
Tips aren't included in Europe. They're just not customary nor expected. Places like Costa Rica actually have tips or "service charges" included in the bill.

I was in Germany and Austria and received the absolute worst service everywhere. We literally spent 20 minutes trying to pay our bill before our friend tapped the "waitress" on the shoulder in a place with all of 4 tables.
The service wasn't bad, it was just European service. You tell them when you need them or you're ready to leave. Otherwise they let you be. Which is great.

I go out to be served. So when I get good service I tip really well. When I get bad service I don’t tip worth a shite. Folks in the service industry are not entitled to my money without providing good service
The biggest problem in the service industry (at least for me) is that they honestly believe they are entitled to a good tip regardless of their service. More and more, you see people who don't believe they have to earn that tip, and that it should be given regardless.
Almost every single time people bitch about bad tips, it is likely due to shite service they provided. Sure, there are outliers and there are also just shitty tippers. But most of the time, the ones whining about bad tips are the worst waiters/waitresses in the restaurant IMO.

Friend of mine is a waiter at a restaurant who always puts out Groupons for buy one meal get second one free. People tip as if they only got one meal. Forget about tipping on the 2nd one because it was free. That is wrong!!

question for people who say that servers are entitled and always expecting a big tip for shite service. Do they question you about your tip after they pick the book up? look over your shoulder while you are entering your tip? I'm confused as I've never in my life been questioned over a tip.
