Anyone ever take a job that was way above their experience level?

For instance, an associate in a law firm to GC, or non-partner CPA to CFO? Frontline management to C Suite? Not necessarily at the same company.
How'd you get the job and how'd it work out?

I had zero experience in my last two jobs.
I'm a charming mufricka in my interviews.

If you lied on your resume', you'll get figured out pretty quickly by your coworkers and boss.

If this were true then the unemployment rate would be close to 70 percent

True for every job I have had.

For every applicant"s resume I every looked at I assumed only about half of the information was probably true.

Currently just did this. Job requirememts were wayyyy more than I have. I blew them away in the interview and got the job. While i was nervous/anxious, i have adapted well. I still dont know everything, but they are willing to train me and i pick up on it fast. So all in all it has went well

In most fields you have knowledge, not practical experience

I need to start lying on my resume.

Yes, both of my post-college jobs
1 was conducting cybersecurity audits for industrial control systems
The other was estimating projects for a large industrial contractor
both companies threw me in to the fire and had me rethinking life, trying to cope with how stupid I was. i suffered existential crises with both, but figured them out

Many people have left my company and got positions above (in most cases way above) the position they left.
Senior auditors to senior managers/directors, managers to principals/partners.
Some of them blow my mind based on knowing the quality of their work.

I fudged my NASA application and was accepted as an Astronaut Candidate (ASCAN). The jig was up though when I was constantly nose-diving the shuttle into the ground on the simulator. Turns out flying the shuttle is hard after all.

You may have little, if any experience after just graduating, but those entry level jobs are designed for people with little experience.
I'm more talking about moving to a position where most if not all the other candidates have significantly more experience. Maybe you had a personal connection to the hiring manager, or you killed in the interview, or a company just to a flyer on you because they liked your potential.
Not some entry level job where it's expected that anyone who is hired will have hardly any experience.

I've been rejected from an entry level job because I didn't have enough experience. They actually told me that.

Yes, but the company hiring me new it at the time.
I had it figured out in about 3 months and it worked out well for everyone.

Not a case of faking experience but I took a job where I had the experience but only on comparable software to what my new job was using. My new boss got upset when I told him that it would take me a couple of weeks to get up to speed with what their stuff. Eventually I was moved under a different department where I excelled and the impatient boss was called out for badmouthing me.
