For some of us, yes.

This is a VERY important fact.

You do realize that your mortgage monthly cost would be about $1600 / month or $19,000 / year more in San Diego.

Yep, to me the beaches are about harvesting food and winter storm watching.

It's funny watching all the people at Ocean Shores trying to pretend they're in southern CA. Out swimming in the cold arse Pacific in 60 degree weather.

For that salary, you could live pretty much anywhere, even into Seattle, and you could reverse commute into Tacoma. Georgetown is a nice little neighborhood in Seattle that I love, West Seattle is really nice, Burien is great, I'd avoid Des Moines, parts of Federal Way are really nice, Issaquah

You had me til Issaquah. That's a bit much.

To be fair, it's rain from November to March, then you get nice days in April and May interspersed with rain (generally followed by sunshine), then June to October it's pretty great weather. I love the winter here though. It rarely ever snows, it's dark early, and you have an excuse to be moody as shite.

Used to be me as a kid, not anymore

That might be the gays. I've learned there's a HUGE gay community there from my NP friend whom practices in dermatology.

I have a family member that drives every day from Issaquah to Tacoma for work. The only trouble he has is merging on from 18 to I-5. If that's what you are referring to. The Issaquah highlands are nice as shite though.

My kids think it's fine but they're from here. When we go you'll find me fully dressed, with a hoodie and a blanket.

I know, my exes aunt still lives there. I've been to a bunch of swanky rich people parties there

Google maps says a 46 min drive. I personally wouldn't put myself into a commute like that. Regardless of how well it flows.

NOW, the other destinations you mentioned are all good and the commute is going away from traffic. You know that, saying it for the OP.

I personally don't like Federal Way.

I would just move to North Tacoma.

My brother and I didn't care either. It didn't even matter in the winter. The ocean temp is basically the same.

I did Seattle to Tacoma for a year and the commute was about that long and god damn it sucked. It was the main reason I decided to move to Tacoma. Some people can do it though, hence the suggestion.

Federal Way sucks for the most part, but the area around Dash Point is really nice. And you pretty easy access to Downtown Tacoma if you work there.

North Tacoma is super nice. I tried to buy a house there but everything got snapped up before I could even get a viewing.

We drove down 101 a few weeks ago and I was surprised how nice the Oregon beaches are. The water is still freezing but they definitely feel way more like classic "sun and fun" beaches.
