Which Major coverage did you enjoy the most?

The Masters has a pretty good online/app viewing experience but the live TV viewing was split between ESPN and CBS starting in the mid afternoon all 4 days. On top of that, there's way too much damn filler and fluff without actual golf.
The US Open was almost fully covered by Fox (FS1 and Fox) supplemented by the US Open app. I think Fox hit its stride this year, but man those mics in the cups got annoying. I'm also not a fan of Joe Buck so there's that.
The British Open was also almost fully covered, this time by NBC (Golf channel and NBC). It also offered featured groups and specific holes for online viewing. There's something about waking up bright and early for this event. And I think NBC does the best overall for getting the most golf on TV.
The PGA was on CBS and TNT. Unfortunately, the mornings of Thursday and Friday had nothing but online feature groups which means you missed Woodlands two great rounds as well as others. TNT coverage was bad with way too many commercials, but CBS did a great job handling Saturday and especially Sunday. I loved that so many guys were still in it late. Yeah, we got a lot of Tiger, but there was plenty of TV time to go around.

Honestly, the TV coverage is bad. There's nostalgia for seeing all those picturesque shots, but man Bill and Jim talk to the TV for 5 minutes at a time and we miss a bunch of golf.

Smartass answer is the US Open because Tiger didnt make the cut so it was a Tiger free weekend and got to actaully have the focus on other golfers.
Real answer is The Masters, always The Masters for me.

Masters good. British Open good. PGA good. U.S.Open since Fox out bid NBC, horrible, except for Holly. I can't stand Buck, and loved his fathers sportscasting.

But that is just part of the Master's, it's a tournament like no other. I enjoy the history being part of the coverage.

quote:The first two rounds were bad, but mostly because of the lack of online options and TNT. I was fine with the Sunday coverage. We got plenty of JT, Koepka (every shot of his on the back), and Scott along with some others. Was Tiger the focus? No doubt. But how can CBS or any broadcaster pass up the ratings bump? The PGA was up 69% (

I watch them all wall to wall as much as I can on the apps, on computer at work, and on TV.
I probably enjoy watching the British Open and The Masters the most.
Masters - Same Course so I know it so well and its the first major of the year.
British - I love waking up early and getting to finish the coverage early in the day and still have time for an afternoon round

CBS showed 65 out of 66 shots Kopeka hit
They only missed one of his drives

Masters is my favorite major.
Best coverage was the British Open. US Open was second just for the volume of coverage. PGA was the worst.

I thought the PGA and British were both well done for the most part. Little bit of lag between shots from time to time, but overall we kept up with the leaders and saw many guys’ rounds. The PGA’s pre weekend was lacking though with just the featured groups. Major points to PGA for being the most entertaining imo of all 4 with so many guys in contention on Sunday including Tiger of course who always gets lots of coverage.
The Masters will always be my favorite to watch, but I definitely found it to be lacking this year. I hate that coverage starts so late in the day and misses a lot. There’s wayyyy too many commercials (a problem for all, but in particular the Masters as the premier tournament of the year). It seemed they’d show like 2 shots, talk about something random, then commercial break again 5 minutes after coming back from one. They also talk about too many stories and whatnot, which is cool to an extent but overdone when there is live action we’re missing for it. Even with all that, it feels so special every year and enjoyable to watch so focusing on production a little would vastly improve the viewer experience.

All tournaments, especially majors should adopt the split screen commercials. That has been a big step in the right direction.

I absolutely hate watching announcers talk during sporting events. We can listen to them while we watch the actual event going on, no need to show the people talking. It is a huge pet peeve of mine
And I understand that Tiger= ratings, but there were 6 other people in contention that got almost zero air time yesterday.

We saw almost every single shot Scott, Koepka, and JT hit along with Tiger. They were showing RIckie and Rahm too until they started stalling
Cink is the only player we didnt see alot of, and personally, I dont mind that

Thomas Pieters and Woodland got some love too while they were around the top. So sorry we didn't get every shot of Rory as he limped his way to a -2.

The Masters app is really great and found I had to bounce around the least to find coverage for it. Could do it on appletv which is nice to not watch on a computer.

Koepka hit solid shot after solid shot. There are no historic highlights to show because he never needed to make a 60 footer or do anything spectacular to save a hole. Just methodically destroyed the course and the competition.
So even if you saw his shots, none of them stood out dramatically. They were all just on the mark. Maybe that's why it feels like he wasn't featured in the broadcast?
