In the opening scene, jo's father is trying to hold the shelter door from getting blown out but gets sucked into the F-5 tornado with the door. Why didn't he just stand where the others were? What the F was he thinking trying to hold the door?

Flies past their windshield but their pick-up truck just keeps driving along normally. Not even a wiggle.
A cow can weigh between 1,600-2,400 lbs.
Even though an F150 is over 4,000 lbs...this is ridiculous that it wouldn't be blown off the road if a cow turns into fricking Mary Poppins.

The scene where they survive an F5 by putting a leather belt around a pipe makes me laugh everytime. So absurd.

Back then there was still a lot of mystery surrounding tornadoes. Home video of actual tornadoes was limited to video clip shows And up close shots were not that common.
Point is they could get away with pretty much anything in terms of tornado physics and the audience was pretty much clueless.

That's another scene where I'm wondering what the F is he thinking? If I was the driver, I am turning the van around regardless if I get fired, etc.

I saw this movie at the theater, and thought it was awesome on the big screen. As far as the illogical scenes, it's Hollywood. I can't think of an action/adventure movie that isn't full of bullshite. Ever since I first saw this movie, I've wanted to go take a ride with some pro tornado chasers.
