Another race?

My buddy just text me saying "I def just made out with a black woman at cats meow."

I've never had an intimate relationship with another race, but i would not be hesitant to if the opportunity came up.

In the opening scene, jo's father is trying to hold the shelter door from getting blown out but gets sucked into the F-5 tornado with the door. Why didn't he just stand where the others were? What the F was he thinking trying to hold the door?
