like Tiger Woods?

He is the sole reason the guys on tour are making big $$ with big purses, he changed the whole sport

People never flocked to anyone in any sport like they do to tiger.

He's a f'in ratings monster, by himself. w/o him, the PGA was doing mediocre ratings, even for Majors, with him, they jump, big time.

No one has ever been this much of a media and fan monster. Many golfers at Championship who weren't around during tigers run, are in awe at the tiger effect.

They are packing it in this week. PGA said they were getting Sunday crowds for practice rounds.

Will we ever see another athlete get this much media, fan, etc hype and following ever? I doubt it.

Lance Armstrong made cycling relevant for a while there. Now no one in America gives a frick again.

Lance was on freakanomics the other week in really good interview, it seems like he was sincere since he really doesn’t need money being that he was one first few 100k into uber.

I forgot just how big of a deal he was. My mom would take off work to watch the tour with us. It’s amazing how quickly he went drown

One of the most impressive is the longevity in his appeal to media and fans being so extreme. It’s been over 20 years now. Now that obviously hasn’t always been consistent with the injuries but this season is clearly showing people love him as much as ever. The Tiger effect is very much still strong.

I think the long delays between seeing him play and compete, in majors especially, plays a big part in his aura remaining years after his last win.

Tiger and MJ revolutionized the way their respective sports were looked at on a global level. It was a perfect combination of timing, technology, and diversity for both of them. The NBA was primarily dominated by bigs until MJ came around and golf was well, irrelevant to the majority of people until Tiger came around.

I think on a global level, Ronaldo and Federer attract a lot of attention.

LeBron easily. Fans and media put him on a pedestal way too much and overanalyze everything he does. He also makes this board melt like a popsicle on the 4th of July.
