Specifically Middle Tennessee?

Does it offer quality deer hunting?

Will most likely be considerably better than most of Louisiana, but all depends on specific property.

With the change in duck migration there's very few states below LA in regards to hunting nowadays. There are still some really good areas and properties especially for deer hunting but most cost big money.

Baiting is illegal so I suspect hunting will be tough for someone from Louisiana.

Compared to a lot of other states, no. Duck hunting across the state has been on the decline for some yrs now. Add to that here recently the states deer herd has been on the decline especially on the states biggest WMAs and you a situation of very limited access to decent hunting a general decline over all.

The reason I ask is because I’m getting ready to make a move to either Tennessee or Georgia. How’s the hunting overall in GA? Specially northern GA.

Deer are over populated at least in the western part of the state. They’re everywhere.

Do you duck hunt? If so I would go Tenn. I honestly dont know much about deer hunting in Georgia but there is some bruisers especially in west Ten and south central Ten, if it were me I would go to Tenn, better hunting overall I would think and closer to good OOS hunting. I've never heard of an area in Georgia known for big deer but I could be wrong.

Waterfowling opportunities are absolutely there.

Turkey, I'd say its one of the best states in the country. 4 bird limit. If you can find land to hunt, you'll kill turkeys.

The soil is hit and miss for deer, but there are some very good bucks. The population is certainly pretty good, especially around farmland. Some of it is very hilly and rocky. 150" deer is reasonably every couple of years for a serious deer hunter IMO. Now, there are not a lot of giants bigger than that around though.

Another nice thing about Tennessee is the rut is right around Thanksgiving, from around the 20th to the 30th of November. Just coincides nicely for people to have time off to hunt.

But it also coincides nicely for people to have off and its rifle. So the weekend before and after Thanksgiving is usually a war zone.

Yeah...the lakes around Nashville which is actually the Cumberland River...Old Hickory tends to attract ducks well. I know a guy near Fayetteville that holds turkeys and deer on his property well....no high fence either.

I’m not too sure I would typically listen to GH22 because I think he’s a kid that spends too much time on the internet and I also don’t think he has hunted too terribly much around the lower 48, but I’d go with TN here. Typically further west is best in regards to most hunting exploits.

I live 30 minutes NE of Nashville. I have 17 acres. Deer, and turkeys walk through daily. Ducks land in a nearby pond. Geese fly over occasionally.

The pic of the world class deer is from this area.

I have a buddy that grew up in Franklin and was always killing bruisers. Really pretty area as well.
