I used my debit card three times today on the way to work alone and never once had to show an ID.
This is a meaningless debate. But it gets to the heart of the problem. Liberals get up in arms over a meaningless throwaway comment from DT. Then his conservative sycophants defend him ardently.
DT misspoke. Probably because he hasn't had to purchase groceries for himself in a long time (which is objectively dope). But defending the comment as if it were anything but a misstatement is just ridiculous.

Seriously, aside from buying booze and cigars, I've never been ID'd to use a credit/debit card, and I've traveled all over the country. This speaks highly that this guy doesn't get out much.

it was erroneously broad in scope, but not inaccurate.
People do, frequently, have to show ID when they buy groceries. This isn't even debatable.
This isn't the case all of the time, but it does happen.
A simple "occasionally" thrown in there would have helped to clarify a bit, but the histrionics from the left on this have been quite a sight to behold.
