NAACP officials: Baton Rouge needs its own city council again

EBR has way more square miles than Orleans.
But St. George shouldn't be allowed to form.

Why is race a factor in this stuff? Isn’t trying to separate a majority black city from majority white cities essentially segregation?

I do think EBR and BR should be separate.
I also feel that Algiers and New Orleans East should be their own areas as well.

They just want to be separate but equal so we don't go back to the Jim Crow days

Did the people behind St. George have to choose the most anglo name possible? Trolling is fun, but you'd have a better shot naming the place "Lincoln" or something.

I believe they just went along to what the area was already called. You already have a St. George Fire Department. St. Louis is has a high minority representation so the anglo sounding name argument doesn't really make sense. More black people live in the St. George area than the critics would lead you to believe.

It gives some folks heartburn, and perhaps they could have chosen better, but there already is a Village St. George and a larger area served by St. George Fire Dept. so there is a little history behind the name.

This. But only if someone black proposes it. If a white politician suggested this all hell would break loose.The other thing is they want to be independent of white people but leave your tax dollars at the door.

the city should be split in 2 with the border being I-10/I-12
