That's no secret. He needed someone in-house to take the job since nobody else was available after what's his name was diagnosed with Parkinson's. That's how Stud ended up calling the plays that year.

There is literally another thread asking why Miles never offered Coach E. Pretty clearly not everyone is aware of that.

And Ensminger said he didn't want it, so Miles found someone else.

Ensminger told O he didn't want it either, O had to talk him into it.

Les prefers a caveman Offense. He's the Head Coach. He calls the shots. Why would a reasonable OC desire to Coach under him and be muzzled.
Ensminger would have looked foolish trying to do his thing in a Les fashion.
Cam, long time friend of Laes, was brought in due to that friendship. What a joke.
Ensminger is going to do us proud now.

You just described the same thing happening under Orgeron.

So Orgeron isn’t going to meddle in his offense?

O will meddle all right, and Ensminger will say yes sir. Which is exactly why O wants Ensminger. I'm in no way knocking Ensminger, he specifically stated he was not interested in the OC position. O has no excuses this year.

That is the thing that frightens me the most. If Orgeron just turn his head set off and let’s the coaches coach, he could be successful.

win west or make playoffs or GTFO. he lost his last year of goodwill after he fricked up the canada situation . mulligan is gone. we did not hire O to keep the status quo. we could have kept miles for that until a coach we could have snagged was available.

Bingo! Steve made a wise career decision, as did Jimbo. CLM was,the only common denominator during the era of offensive offense.

Not nearly like les. Make no mistake those were Les Miles offenses. O will not do that. He trust E and outside of personnel I don’t see him too involved with the offense

So Les was only here during the Cam seasons?
Have you ever looked at Les’ offenses with other coordinators?

O will not do that

He did it with Canada.

If you don’t realize he hired Ensminger to control him, which he couldn’t do with Canada, you have issues.

Let’s hope he lets him coach. We have no idea if Ensminger is even capable of being a competitive coordinator versus the likes of Bama, UGA, Auburn and States Defenses, yet.
It goes sideways and Orgeron will be all up in that offense, watch!

Isn't Ensminger basically tailor making an offense that Orgeron wants to run? It seems like he's already heavily involved in the offense.

That’s true. Who knows at this point, bud.

We’re just going to see it when they’re already on the field.

This has been the most unknown offseason I can remember for some time.
So much speculation and going off past history, which doesn’t help being optimistic.

With Canada it did... with E in 2016 apparently it did not. Perhaps (pure speculation on my part) that was part of discussion when E had to be convinced to take the OC job.

Doesn’t that sound terrible?

A coach had to be convinced to take the OC job at LSU.

I would hope and expect the HC to do so, when things go sideways.
