We all knew they wouldn’t stop at a couple of statues.

A report released by Austin’s Equity Office last week suggests renaming Austin and rechristening a number of other streets, markers and parks that honor the Confederacy. Stephen F. Austin, known as the “father of Texas,” opposed an attempt by Mexico to ban slavery in the province of Tejas and said that if slaves were freed, they would turn into “vagabonds, a nuisance and a menace,” the Austin American-Statesman reports.
The report notes at its conclusion that “societal values are fluid, and they can be and are different today” compared to when the city made choices to honor the Confederacy with these street names and markers.
“It is also important to acknowledge that nearly all monuments to the Confederacy and its leaders were erected without a true democratic process. People of color often had no voice and no opportunity to raise concerns about the city’s decision to honor Confederate leaders.”

So Austin is named after a slave owner. They need to rename the city.

Just name it after Steve Austin...

Give liberals and progressives an inch and they will never stop. Scary times ahead...

I would go after a French name. The French are such badasses...

They should call it “worse than Baton Rouge, Texas”

Another example that this WILL NEVER STOP. You don't give a single inch to these idiots. They will only go on and on and on until they have transformed society entirely to suit their worldview. Anyone who thinks concessions here and there are no big deal and will placate them is delusional and naive.

People of color
I wince at this term. Six months from now they will be offended by it and demand your livelihood if someone hears you say it.
Also, since when is white not a color?

Yeah these loons also want to rename Barton Springs, as well as many major streets around Austin, including Lamar, Burnet and Duval.
