Make sure you repair your inventory completely before working on the ship.
This is what’s killing me right now. All of my old shite doesn’t work to repair anything and I keep dying trying to get to a planet to farm the stuff lmao

Ah okay. I must have not noticed it was damaged. I guess I just got tunnel vision focusing on the ship repairs. Thanks for the tip. Hopefully I can find my corpse or another pneumatic seal. Otherwise I'm going to be stranded.
Don't play on survival. I haven't even tried that myself.
Some of the planets are pretty brutal anyway on regular.

Especially if your first spawn is on one of those harsh planets. I restarted the other day and spawned on a super hot planet. It makes finding that perfect planet all that much more satisfying, though. When you land on one that has perfect weather with lots of resources, you can sit back and go, "this is where I belong," and relax.

Alright, I gave up on survival and tried out normal mode. My starting planet was a little harsh but nothing compared to Chernobyl planet from my survival game. There was constant acid rain but I could still walk around for a lot longer before needing to replenish my environmental protection. I was able to repair my ship and start flying around.
My 8 year old son started watching me play and I think the game kind of blew his mind a little. He loves Minecraft but when I explained this game was sort of like "Minecraft but you can go to space and jump to different planets" he kept taking the controller from me. He was in bed asleep by the time I got my ship up and running so I refrained from leaving the planet until I can play it with him again.
I just wish I had 2 PS4's or 2 PC's that could run it so we could play it together like we do Minecraft. Maybe one day.

That's awesome
I've set up 2 minor bases. My main complaint which seems to be related to changes -
There aren't waypoints unless you get a mission or directed to spots. I swear I used to be able to scan while flying and it showed all the spots to check out. Or when I scanned a new region it would show all the spots.
Now, I'm literally having to look while flying or use the visor scan while on the ground

Yeah I wish I could save a little fuel by scanning from the sky instead of having to land and use the visor. My starter planet is so big it would take a fricking month to scan from the ground.

Just wanted to say this game is incredible. I have played about 8 hours and feel like I have barely scratched the surface.

I'm still playing it and really enjoying it. I've built a (crappy) little base on a planet that has really nice weather, though it has blue grass that makes me feel like I'm constantly walking on Boise State's football field. I'm really hoping to find a similar planet with green grass and foliage where I can build something more permanent. I thought I had found a such a planet last night when I saw it covered in blue and dotted with green from space. However, when I actually got to the surface I realized the planet was literally 98% water. It was tons of tiny little islands scattered everywhere in a never-ending ocean. After flying around for a bit, I blasted back out to space. I didn't even land.
I've gotten in a few space battles too, though I can't tell if I just suck at them or if the controls suck, but my old Wing Commander / Tie-Fighter space battle experience didn't help much. I had to run from one battle and barely survived the other.
Also, this game needs several more layers of polish. I frequently run into weird bugs. Text in dialogue that is bugged out, parts of crashed frigates that have unexpected and impenetrable invisible walls, alien outposts that didn't spawn into the world correctly and are, therefore, partially stuck in the terrain in ways that can't be intentional, just to name a few.
Despite all of that, I'm still having a lot of fun. I just wish this team had more resources because I feel like they have a foundation for an amazing game here. It just needs to be fine tuned.
