Maybe the Raptors hope they can convince him to stay like Okc and PG. Everyone was saying he was a one year rental this time last year.

I said during the playoffs that Toronto should trade anyone not named DDR to try to get Kawhi. I don't like this at all for Toronto. This comes off as a desperation move from Ujuri for no reason at all. DDR is pissssed right now too.

quote:

Toronto has reached agreement in principle to acquire San Antonio's Kawhi Leonard for package that includes DeMar DeRozan, league sources tell ESPN. Trade is larger on both sides, and players are still being informed of their inclusion in the deal. Trade call with league today.

Meh. DeMar is not my favorite player and is playoff cursed. But I guess this is probably the best deal the spurs could get with Kawhi out there still saying he will leave for LA after next year.

Toronto can hold on to him and then trade Leonard to the Lakers midway through the season for Kuzma, KCP, Hart, and picks.

Is there a rule on how long they have to wait to flip Kawhi?

The Spurs should end up still being pretty solid as well. Everybody was writing them off, but they will still easily be in the playoffs..

Spurs would be one of the best teams in the west with this deal.

yeah I think this is Toronto's last swing at a championship(eastern) before they rebuild

Lowry is expiring in 2019, moving Derozan gets his $27M through 2020 gone

Ive never seen an organization such as the Spurs always get lucky with draft picks or trades. They just have unreal luck with this.

Everyone counts them out thinking they are rebuilding now and they instantly become arguably the best team in the West despite losing a top 3 player

He will regret not taking the super max from SA in the long run even if he leaves for LA after one year.
Do you not understand he can still make all the same money. It's just not guaranteed yet.

The Spurs won 47 games last season. The Rockets won 65. You think these moves results in an 18+ game swing?

Depending on the other pieces, what a coup for Toronto. Go from a top 30 player to a top 5 and shed Derozan's contract in the process. Can't believe people are acting like he's a lock to leave Toronto, even after watching what happened with PG.

The San Antonio-Toronto deal has been close for days and nearly fallen apart several times, league sources tell ESPN. Ujiri wanted to inform DeRozan himself late last night, in hours before trade call. DeRozan and longtime teammate Kyle Lowry talked hours ago, sources said.

2 I'm going to miss the DDR/Lowry days and them jokingly going at each other in interviews
