Well, I got my race tomorrow. Been dealing with injuries all summer. So it will be more of a run/walk. This has been the most challenging and frustrating training I’ve ever done. I haven’t posted much but have appreciated everyone’s posts. Good luck to all of you guys!

Just signed up for Running the Rose 54k in January. First ultra. First race over 25k. What did I just do.

Been "training" for the LA half marathon. I am not much of a runner, but set a goal for myself and I intend on completing that. I'll be running the Tiger 10k to see where I am at A month and 2/3 out.
Currently I have been running as close to 3mi/day taking 2 days rest per week.
Any tips? Training schedule I should follow? Nutrition? Stretching?

Ok I just committed to running my first half in February in New Orleans. I enjoyed a 5k a few weekends ago and my company does fundraising events and blasted the run out. As someone who isn’t passionate about running this will be interesting. Goal #1 is to make it to race day, #2 is to finish, and #3 is 2 hours.

3 hours of sleep. Hard day of work on my feet and talking all day.
Cranked out 6 miles this evening.
Edit - oh and I also registered for the 2019 non-guarantee entry Chicago Marathon.

20 miles!
49 mile week! Probably dumb to run a 20 miler less than a week after a 14 mile long run. But I did it!
Miles 10-15 felt like death. 15-20 were good. 10:35/mile pace but I have to admit I took a few minutes every five miles to refuel and rest. Hopefully that doesn’t hurt me in the full. Shooting for 10:15 pace.

I'm back bitches.
Brother and I just signed up for this Marji Gesick --100miler (12k gain), third week of Sept.
Bro is much faster 7 years younger than I am, and he has completed a full Ironman and some multi-day relays. But he promises we'll stick together.
Any ultra training tips welcome.
Since it's so far out, I'm going to focus on a very slow, holistic approach with lots of cross-training. Then do a 50-mile program (Zach Bitter), then the 100 program next summer in MT.

4 yesterday. 2 this morning. These taper runs kinda blow. I’m assuming it’s because my mind is saying “easy rest week” but running is still running.

So is it okay if most of my running gets cut out during the taper?
Missed my run yesterday. Might have time for a 3 miler this afternoon if it stops raining. They’re calling for severe weather in the morning so that might kill my 8 mile run this weekend as I’m hyper booked out tomorrow afternoon and Sunday. Then it’s race week....
I’m feeling fat.

8 miles yesterday at a 9:45 pace. Probably stupid to do less than a week before my first full but I felt good. Will do an easy 3 tomorrow morning and then rest until Friday for a 2-3 mile shakeout.
26.2 on Saturday. Forecast is upper 30s, rain, and wind.

Good luck to everyone running today.
It’s my second half and I’m shooting for a 9:50 overall pace. Feeling good but worried about the wind around the lakes. Gonna be a cold one.

Can't believe I'm just now discovering the H/F board.
So, I'm not a runner by any means, but decided that this year I would train to run the Crescent City Classic. I've only done a couple Happy's runs before, so 3.1 miles is the longest i've ever run.
Started a training program via runkeeper. I ran 5 miles last week, which marks the longest distance i've ever run non-stop.
My goal is <10 min/mile pace.
Happy to be following this thread now!!

Two weeks out from the Mercedes Marathon in Birmingham. I am going to enjoy these couple of weeks of tapering. Gunning for 3:30 but will be happy with going under 3:40. PR is 3:35.

Help!
Ran a half marathon 2 months ago (at about an 11 min/mile pace). I have only run about 5 times since not anticipating doing another one any time soon.
I was just reminded that I'm suppose to be doing one on March 2nd and I'd like not to disappoint. I'd also like to improve my time.
What sort of regimen would you suggest? I can probably do 4-6 miles my race pace pretty comfortably. I frankly didn't train that much ahead of the first one.

signed up for the tupelo marathon on labor day weekend. i'm sure i'll regret it. the motto of the race is "trample the weak, hurdle the dead". at least it will give me motivation over the summer.

Getting a free vo2 max test next week. They are going to prick my finger during the run so I’m not looking forward to that...but fascinated to see what the results are.

How common is it to have a pretty sore foot after a half marathon? The edge of my right foot is pretty damn sore when I walk, but not to the touch. No visible bruising or swelling. But it oscillates between being outright painful to walk on and just kind of nagging me. One day it didn't bother me at all until the evening when I was limping around on it.Obviously if it keeps it up I'll see a doctor, but I plan on skiing next weekend so I'm hopeful it's some sort of inflammation that will subside soon. Thanks all.

Hey guys, I just started a 20 week marathon training program this week for the Marine Corps marathon on Oct 27. I’ve been using a AW3 for tracking runs for 6+ months and it’s been consistently 3% longer than actual. My local 10K course shows 6.39 miles and I did a half that showed 13.49 miles. I’m looking at the garmin 235 in order to keep an accurate pace. Thoughts/suggestions? TIA

I am now on week 10 of the Hanson advanced plan. Mileage wise this is the a big change for me. I’ve always just done higdon intermediate 2. With Hanson the weekly mileage is much bigger. But my legs feel a lot better. I contribute this to doing 60% of my training at a minute or more slower than marathon pace. The speed work has been pretty rough. Haven’t done that since high school track, but I think have managed to make it through all the workouts at the required pace. Still a little nervous that my longest run on this plan will only be 16 miles. It will be interesting to see my results at my Labor Day marathon (trying to just break 3:30, previous times were 3:35 and 3:40).
