Trump made an interesting point about our GDP and NATO

Of course in his presser this morning he said it was time for everyone to pay their fair share. However, he brought up the point of with our economy rising and our GDP getting better, that means we will be paying even more into NATO.
I hadn't thought about that. I got the feeling he was insinuating that "what are we going to get in return for even more money that we are paying in?"
That makes sense. Say our GDP is heads above other countries. Seems to me we will even be a bigger contributor yet we will be getting the same results as we have been getting. NATO is using the U.S. as the banker to finance their country's defenses. That doesn't set really well with me.
We need to remember, this is not the government's money that we are sending over there to keep NATO's balloon inflated - it is your hard-earned tax money going to them.
Maybe it's time to rework this "formula" of fairness concerning contributions to NATO.

He can easily turn off the valve...
We shouldn’t be obligated to put in more. We need to just contribute our 2%.

Instead of wanting other Euro countries to pay more on defense, he should be talking about cutting our spending in half.

SO the same leftists who constantly bitch about the defense budget are now bitching because Trump is applying pressure to NATO to pay up?
so we don't have to pay as much in the future?
got it

No matter how many times Trump says it, or you say it, we don’t pay that money “into NATO.” The ignorance of Trump’s fantasy and his followers’ blind repetition is staggering.

Bankers get paid back. We're their parents

This has huge implications for America, with all the spending on defense and defense contractors everywhere making the NATO allies raise their defense spending almost definitely means more money into us businesses as they win contracts.
He is single handedly decreasing the trade deficit by forcing Europe’s hand.

We spend almost 5% currently. We could just allow the percentage to decrease without spending less money, or increasing spending
