These damn things are going to be death of me. They either will not eject the tube when I am done or they will not start. What am I doing wrong?

I guess I'm the only one who was expecting a different subject, based on the thread title.

The mini ones are all garbage. Go to Tractor Supply if one is near enough and get the black pistol-grip grease gun. For $20/ea they are great and I've never had issues with mine.

You grease up Tonka trucks and Hotwheels with those?

Just get a full size one? I don’t even know what you’re talking about to be honest.

I think I may have one. It uses a five gallon bucket of grease, instead of the drum.

He's talking about the ones that use 3oz cartridges that you see at any auto parts store. Cheap, 50/50 chance of working through one tube of grease. I probably have several leaking away in forgotten toolboxes. Used to get them because I'd had one for automotive bearing/chassis grease, one for red lithium general purpose stuff, and one with marine-grade grease for the boat and jetski trailers.

Unscrew the end with the plunger/spring. Not the nozzle/pump end.

Pull out the empty cartridge. Use needle nose pliers, if you must.

On the new cartridge, break the foil seal and insert this end toward the pump handle end, after taking off the cap/seal on the other end of the grease tube.

Take the plunger/spring end and pull back the plunger fully.

Twist slightly so the plunger does not go back down.

Screw the end on. Twist plunger back so it releases to put pressure on the grease tube.

Pump the handle until grease come out. Press nozzle on to the fitting and have fun.

NAPA sells Lincoln grease guns. I've never had a problem with them

Get a pistol grip, too. My old man had those need-three-hands motherfrickers.

I keep one in my car along with a hub kit for my boat trailer. I use a regular sized grease gun before trips but if a bearing goes out and I have to replace the hub I have the mini grease gun to fill it up
