Anyone Else Struggle With Having An All-Or-Nothing Personality?

I'll obsess over analyzing things before deciding whether or not I'm all in. New hobby? Can't take part unless I'm 100% gung ho about it. New project? Not interested unless I can devote 100% of myself into it. Then I'm relentless like a dog on a bone. Health? If I take liberties with food, I'm apt to go the full nine in the wrong direction for the rest of the day. Cleaning? Not happening unless I can clean the entire house or car at once.
Trying to approach some things in moderation, but it's pretty tough.
All-or-nothing personality pros and cons:

All-or-nothing personality pros and cons:
quote:
Pro’s:
-You tend to achieve more in life
-You end up highly skilled in variety of areas
-You are able to focus on one thing and go for it it
-You have high expectations of yourself
-You can turn it on in emergencies for extra power and stamina
-You never suffer from boredom
Con’s
-You tend to be a bit highly strung
-To kick back and relax is difficult
-You tend to overuse your body
-You’re still trying to please your parents (even if they’re dead)
-You find it difficult to just do things for fun without wanting to achieve excellence
-You are hard on yourself
-It adds grittiness to one’s character (which isn’t always pleasant)
-It can paralyse you (“…if I can’t do it perfectly, I’m not even going to try.”)
-Nothing is ever good enough
-It can sabotage effort

Just the opposite. I'll test things out to see if I'm interested.

I used too until my wife had our daughter and I was diagnosed with cancer all inside of 6mos. Now, I honestly don’t give a frick.
Glass half full or empty, who fricking cares. Enjoy life it’s too damn short.

I’ll give anything a shot at least once, but once it grabs hold, I become obsessed with it and uncompromising. If I don’t care for it, I’ll let it go by the wayside. So yeah, I’m in your boat.

To some degree. When I get into something, I really get into it, but I also consider the value of it. How will it benefit me? Also, I like to know a little something about as much as possible so sometimes I will take part in something just enough to see what it's all about..
Now something like this, I can relate. When I was in school.. I had a hard time studying if I knew I only had 10-15 mins to do so. In order for me to study, I had to have an open schedule for that day. Even if I had to go somewhere and I had two hours in between, for some reason it was much more difficult for me to study knowing I had to go somewhere in two hours, than if I didn't.
This still applies to somethings I do.

My ex struggled to understand why we couldn’t be friends after she dumped me. If I couldn’t have her, I didn’t want anything to do with her.

That’s different. You feel that way because you’re still in love with her. That will change and what you’re left with is more of an admiration and eventually it will be easier to be friends.
Also, I am an 100% All or Nothing, Type A Personality person and I hate it.

Exactly how I am. I would rather do one whole thorough clean instead of consistent half arse cleaning.

Screw those bitches. They know exactly what they're doing, trying to keep a guy on the string in case they need them. They'll only respect you if you call their BS like you did and aren't worthy of your respect, regardless.

What a load of bull. I'll tell you now, outside of close family a man has no need of female "friends" of a similar age to himself. He has men for that. Women can have a deeper relationship or be an acquaintance. That's pretty much it.
