Absolutely rocks! I know the apple folks have had it with imessaging for a while. But I'm glad android has it now.

Biggest thing I miss when I moved back to an Iphone was Mightytext. Looks like Google decided to join the club.

technically, voice (google) has always had a web app that you could text from..Android messages though has this as a new feature

I thought that product was independent of the phone number?
Mightytext allowed me to text anyone including Iphones directly to the imessage app. It appears the OP does that as well.

it is (1)its on phone number (2)can be forwarded to/from the phones original number...Was simply stating additional information to your comment, not correcting it

I think the Apple can only text back and forth to other Iphones, right?
I used Airdroid for a pretty long time to text from my computer at work. Then one day my work blocked Airdroid, so then I found PushBullet, but I didn't want to pay for it. So I'd use the free version for about 20 days per month before I'd use up all my texts, then I'd spend the last 10 days of the month with nothing lol.
But this Android Messaging on the PC works perfectly, it's great.

Works really well.
Don't like the styling of the UI much like I don't like the UI of Messages. But I use it anyway, and especially so now that I can text from a browser.

The text from PC is making me send comprehensive text messages that I'm sure are awful for the recipient

If/when your Android Messages app gets the update it's pretty simple.
Top right 3 dots in your text app select that. You'll see "Messages for Web"
It will tell you to go to the Android Messages website and scan the QR code with your phone.
Voila, the browser will convert to Text on PC

Mine suddenly turned white with the option for black background. WTF just happened?

the messages app on your phone just got a huge cosmetic makeover too

I didn't enjoy every conversation being a different color.
But I also don't enjoy not being able to choose my bubble colors. Last I checked this isn't an iPhone. Give me my options back!

I wish it worked in an IM client. Guess I'm greedy, but I use Trillium at work for our XMPP chat and for my gmail messaging. It'd be nice to have all of that in one client like iMessage does... But one thing at a time.
